A Guide to Game Making for n00bs!!!
« on: March 02, 2003, 03:26:46 PM »
Yes, that\'s right, here we have a guide to making games thats specifically catered for people who aren\'t "technically adept". Be advised though, just as this article is for the n00bs, it was also written by a n00b. :p Don\'t be too harsh if it doesn\'t meet expectations.

Hope you like it :D

it would be awesome to be able to create games, but I can\'t touch that graphics stuff, way to advanced for me.

Sam you n00b. I\'d read it, but then i\'d have to call myself a n00b. ;)

Well, making games doesn\'t really interest me.
Flash, java, graphics, making models, skins, mods interest me though :)

Made a game with the MUGEN engine once, sent a demo of it to sammy, was a 2D fighter with every Capcom and Marvel character you could think of. Started to get to about 500meg before i got bored of it and ended up deleting the whole project. Kinda wish i didn\'t and just put it on the back burner till i got in the mood again.    Ohh well, atleast sammy got a go of it ;)

Nice link... I\'ve tried some others, I\'ll give this one a try.

Unfortunately, what all these places NEVER mention, is that even with good software helping, any game worth playing will require hundreds of hours of input, testing, and thought.

I always start making a big complex RPG, but usually barely get past engine design before I give up.  :D

You\'re waaayy too ambitious. Games that are worth playing don\'t neccsairly need to be big and complicated. Look at Tetrinet. Lots of fun and all that for less than a meg! Learn to walk before you fly, otherwise you\'ll die (cuz u\'ll fall n stuf.. hey that rhymes!)
