Im tired of this crap....

My uncle, being the baseball, basketball, football, hockey coach, and all around coachy person just called me.

He has a son, Eric my cousin who I am really close with, and talk to him alot on MSN. He is one of those father idol\'s the kid who excels in everything, and my Uncle thinks I should do the same and keep the tradition of a sport orientated child. I apparently have the stuff, but I dont want to.

He thinks everything I do, everything, from playing drums, to the music I listen to, Skateboarding, the way I dress, act, talk, and all around carry myself is just all around not mainstream. I told him its how I act, and how I act is how I want to act and just be.

He then says He\'s going to talk to my mom and have her talk to me. About WHAT?!?! I am seriously sick of shit from him and am seriously fed up.

The only problem though its my mothers brother, and she was also one of the sport oriented kid, Rugby Captain (yes rugby), Football Cheerleader, Swim Team Captain, Track and Field champion, and even tutor back in highschool. She thinks I am also just a \'\'bum with nothing coming to me\'\'.

She knows I have friends, and likes them. But wants me to expand, I am fed up with all of this. But I dont know what to do, I dont want to tell them they are totally wrong, and just plain out be blantanly ignorant.

Help would be appreciated. I am really pissed :rpissed:

Do you know what its like to have to have your closest uncle call you up, every day asking you if you have tried out for track, or football, and just insulting everything about you.

Vapor imagine this; Coming home, your mom just flat outs tells you she hates you, that she thinks your not worthy to be her son. Vapor something like this isnt worth ignoring. Esp when your parents are going through a divorce.

it has alot to do with your age. being young as you are makes you seem impressionable.

just stick to your guns dude, be the person YOU want to be.

as long as your a good person and your happy with yourself, thats all that matters.


seriously i could spurt out about 500 cliches here that would all be true but you get the point.

i was a skater back in high school... im talking back when NOBODY was a skater... i had a nosering about 8 years before it got "popular"...

anyways, i know what your going through.

I don\'t mean to insult your family, since I don\'t even know them.  Obviously it can\'t really be a valid insult if I don\'t know them....

But even stupid people can be uncles and mothers.  Doesn\'t mean they\'re bad, just maybe not too bright, or not very experienced with the range of behaviors that humans are permitted to have.  Nerds and antisocial loners will always grow up to be the rich powerful people who will then laugh at the brain dead jocks all the way to the bank.  That\'s what I did.  It\'s a fact of life, and if your family doesn\'t know it by now, there\'s no way you can teach it to them.

Just consider this something you have to survive until you can get the hell away from them.  

Listen, parents most of the time suck. Do what YOU want to do, and don\'t be a jock, cause jock are moron zombies controlled by the sports/school system! Revolt! lol

I\'d say is when they confront you (or you can confront them first), tell them that you\'re just not as sportsy (if that\'s a word) as they are.  Tell them, that although you\'d like to continue the "family tradition," you don\'t feel that that isn\'t who you are.  Apologize that you can\'t meet up to their expectations, but emphasize that it\'s a waste of time for them to force something on you that just isn\'t you at all.  Be who you can be, not who you should be.

when I was 14 I discovered punk rock.(1987) My father (even tho he was a hippie) had a real hard time with my skating and music: sex pistols, clash... to the point where he broke 4 copies of never mind the bollocks..and made me break up with a 17 year old punker chick who was my first love. I ran away at 16.

at my HS grad party, we got into a fist fight... and eventually, I ended up on the other side of the country (sactown CA) I was homeless, on acid and loving life.

now I am a successful business type guy and have a good relationship with my miserable pop.
