Guess who gets to put the fires out

(that havent even been lit mind you) after a war that hasnt even started.

Halliburton!!! Surprise Surprise

http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,3604,912426,00.html

"Halliburton, the Texas company which has been awarded the Pentagon\'s contract to put out potential oil-field fires in Iraq and which is bidding for postwar construction contracts, is still making annual payments to its former chief executive, the vice-president Dick Cheney."

To be fair, Haliburton IS one if not THE best companies to do the job. They were there during the Kuwaiti oil fire fields. So they do have experiance in the area, as well as fighting oil fires.

Now, can\'t argue that there is deffinetly an APPEARANCE of conflict of interest. Whether there is one or not, not sure (I believe that Cheney left the company in order to be Vice President). Still, probably one of the reasons why Cheney hasn\'t been around much.
Opinions are not important.

One of Halliburtons subsidaries,KBR, is rumored to have the contract for rebuilding Iraq after the war. The preliminary work alone is worth over 900million!!

Something is certainly fishy, the bidding hasnt even started yet for rebuilding what isnt destroyed.

That is exactly the point.  Nothing has happened yet.  I do agree it is "fishy".  No denying that, but it could end up that not as much rebuilding will be necessary - we won\'t know until it starts.

Hopefully, if Saddam has really planted explosives around Iraq\'s oilfields, we will be prepared to attempt to prevent him from using him via special forces, etc.

How quickly some leave others in the dust :(

Though Im not much on rebuilding a country you just destroyed anyway. Seems like so much of that money goes towards things that may not even have been destroyed and the needy facilities are still just that. *shrugs*
