A senior pentagon official has confirmed to Fox News on Sunday that coalition forces have discovered a "huge" chemical weapons factory near the Iraqi city of An Najaf, which is situated some 225 miles south of Baghdad.

Coalition troops are also said to be holding the general in charge of the facility.

Building was also camouflaged to look like part of the horizon.  General also captured -- so far cooperating from early reports.

Don’t cheer yet :)

Sky interviewed Scott Ritter, (weapons inspector for 7 years) about the claimed chemical factory. He was very sceptical. He said the city in which it is located, is located in the Shin Muslims area, then he believes that the people who found it (soldiers obviously?) does not understand what they are looking at and later reported it to Pentagon, and someone there leaked it because its "good news".

Other inspectors have said they have been to that area earlier this year. They said they did not find anything there in the area before. They said something about a big cement factory then, but Im not sure if they were talking about the same building.

Its the Allied forces\' fault that the inspectors couldn\'t finish their job...

They sure were quick to attack Iraq...

Only 12 years for Iraq to comply...

The pressure was not put on Saddam until after 9/11.
Resolution 1441 was voted..

Saddam agreed on letting the inspectors inside Iraq. They looked and looked but didn’t find any WMD. They destroyed (how many were there? I have figures of 35 or 70) missiles a week or so before it broke out.
They requested more time (1 extra month was it?), but then they were ordered out.

I think that it should have been left to the UN to act.
As I\'ve said before US/UK and France (because they said they would veto ANY resolution which is not right IMO) put a stop to that.

There had been attempts before of course..
But the real pressure, threat of war was not put until after 9/11.

Perhaps UN believed Saddam is not such a big threat as he once was?
I don’t know.

I agree to some degree that the UN can be weak sometimes.
But I still think there was more the UN could have done before the war started. A war should always be the last option.
