Got my liteon 48x 24x 48x burner.
« on: March 28, 2003, 08:11:13 PM »
Yep, bout time too.

My first 4x 2x 8x burner died, it was some mitsumi one. Then i\'ve been borrowing a mates acer 4x 8x burner. It won\'t copy anything. Could only backup stuff on my harddrive.

So i got this burner. Great little burner, although i already knew that sense i got the same one for a mate acouple of months back.

Only thing i don\'t like about it is the drive sled is loud when opening and closing it.  I\'d prefer a plextor rom, but i got this one around $43.50 USD which =  $87AUD   great price. :)

now for the new case. :)

I love how fast CD RWs are getting nowadays... I like being able to burn a CD in under a minute ;).  Mine\'s a yamaha 16x10x40, but it\'s external SCSI III, so that makes up for it :D

Soul I got the same one, great drive!  I heard the next model, the 52x, is much louder so we got a good one. :)  Just a question, so far I\'ve only burned music CDs but the max selectable speed is 16x. :(  Could this be the media\'s problem and not the hardware/software?

Hey THX, I have the same drive as well. :D

With the right media (and computer ;)) you should be able to burn with 48x speed.

Yea i think it depends on your processor speed. I burn at 48x no problem. But i always bring it back to 24x to make sure i get a good burn. :)

This is a retail Lite-On so I\'m using the Nero software that came with it.  I tried using my original Nero but it couldn\'t see the drive. :P  Anyway when I start Nero up I can select 48x at first but when I burn the max is 16.  Sound like the CD-R?

Yeah, I think it\'s the media... I think the drive/software can \'see\' how fast the media is and adjusts the burning accordingly. What media are you using? It normally says what speed it is, on the CD.

i burn on 16x cds at higher speeds. Maybe try getting a newer version of nero, or getting a different program.

LOL! I have the LG 48x burner, and guess what there newest firmware that was released for this model has boosted the speed up to 53.5x

LOL! Ahhh... nothing like paying for a 48x burner and in return receiving a 52x burner lol!!!!! Heck I have had this burner for 6 months.
