Saddam is a no show...
« on: April 01, 2003, 06:13:00 PM »
Saddam was supposed to address Iraq about the war, but pretty much to prove he is still alive, but for some reason he didn\'t show. I don\'t think it proves he is dead but still very strange...

If the dude is still alive then I\'d be shocked.  He\'s definitely hurtin\'.  There is no reason for him to not have been on tv yet since the war.  He is their leader.  How can you not go in front of your people?

Not really much comparison since Bush has been on TV since the beginning, but look how often it is either Rumsfeld, Cheney, or Flescher.

Oh yea, and that dolt that heads up the homeland security group..

The bombings of Iraq TV stations might have something to do with it.
Maybe they cant broadcast live from where he\'s hiding?

Well that is a very good possiblilty fastson, but they could certainly tape something that is up to date.  They are running stuff from pre war.  Hel they had him congratulating a group of his men that had already surrendered.  How idiotic is that?

Well on the link there is a picture to the right of an iraqi information minister who was on live T.V. and under the picture it says "Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf delivered a statement said to be from Saddam Hussein."

So what is your point?

Obviously Iraqi tv could go on live, but in order to do that Saddam would have to go to the transmitter and do his speach from there.  Wouldn\'t that be a great opportunity to pick him off.

The information minister of course can say all he wants because we don\'t give a shit about him.

And do you really think he read the words from Saddam?  Hell, what leader writes their own speaches anyway?

The point is why would you say you are going to address your country about the war but mainly to prove you are still alive and not show up for it?

Dont you think they would have thought about that BEFORE they announced he would be giving an address to his country?

I agree.  I don\'t know.  Did they actually say he would be speaking or did they say to expect words from the leader?  I really don\'t know.

Yes I know.
But Saeed is obviously not where Saddam is.

If Saddam is still alive he’s hiding somewhere else, maybe they can’t broadcast from his current location?

Saddam could have recorded a video though, but he didn’t.. So something fishy is up.

Might be a glitch in the translation. I\'ve listened to when CNN translates live "Saddam ahalla, speech, allaaaagh!”

Since new channels now are so eager to publish news before they have been confirmed (*cough* HUUUUGE chemical plant *cough*) its possible.

If he is dead, then this is bad news for the US. The US had hoped that once Saddam was dead that his regime would fall around his death. If they are indeed carrying on after his death, then whose to say what will stop them..even after this war? Maybe his influence can keep carrying over.
