Batman: Dark Tommorw
« on: April 05, 2003, 10:10:56 AM »
I have been waiting for Kemco\'s "great" Batman game. I waited almost two years, with only a cinema and a few stills to go off of. Either way, I was happy. After all, I have loved every Batman game \'cept for Batman Forever ...that game was just bad...But, Dark Tommorw couldn\'t be worse than that, could it?

Flash Forward: At Best Buy lastnight and I find Batman: Dark Tommorw for the Xbox. I had no idea that the game was out yet  - but I went ahead and bought it.. I get home, go through the great cinema and boom..it hits me...The worse game in recent memory.
Why? Let\'s make a list.

  • Animation? Almost none. The game constantly jerks about. When you use the bat grapple - there is no animation. Batman simply floats across, oddly enough.
  • Enemies do not die. Instead you are forced to handcuff them as soon as they fall down. Each time you handcuff an enemy the game goes into the same cinema. Catch is, durin\' this cinema you can\'t control Batman, but you can be attacked. It makes for a pisser. Espically in large groups of enemies.
  • Enemies give way to much damage. Batman can\'t block , so you\'ll find yourself starting in a level only to be shot by three or four enemies and ead..Repeat, until you get tired of hitting "continue".
  • Worthless bat-gadgets.
  • Insane camera that constantly flips the control around. Making for insane control.

The list goes on and on. This is the worst game in along time and the WORST Batman game...

Oh well, we always have Batman: Vengence 2, by Ubi Soft..

Well, I\'ve never been a fan of Kemco. Back in the days when I had a N64 I knew they were one of the few 3rd party devs for it.
They made games like Top Gear Overdrive.... it totally sucked,
so this doesn\'t really surprise me.
Anyway, as for Batman... I didn\'t like the style of that game.
I prefer the styling they use in Batman of the Future/Batman Beyond ; sans the
cape and with the black and red colors. The voice actor for it sounds a bit like David Hayter (Solid Snake) imo.
I believe there was a PSone game based on that series, though if I remember correctly, some dev blew that one too. Shame... seems like nobody can get a
a super hero game actually "SUPER".

Heh, I wonder how bad this game would\'ve been if it came out at its original release date. (November 2001..)

The reviews have been horrible..

Knotter: Yeah, Batman Beyond for PSX/N64 sucked. (2.5/10 = average review on GR)

Funny thing is, Kemco developed that one too. *sigh* :)

The game goes beyond looking poor. I have seen some crappy games, and this one rates up with superman 64. Maybe even a bit lower cause sup 64 did atleast you 5 or so minutes of just flying about.

Despite my hatred for this game, I continue on on my quest to see all the cinema\'s. It\'s the avid Batman fan that I am, that keeps me goin\'. As I write this, I just finished watching all 116 episodes of Batman : TAS, it has taken me many weeks. ...

My point? Don\'t even try this game unless you really, really love the Batman character. The game is beyond poor.

*sigh*
I think after I finish this, I will go back and beat Batman: Vengence again. Now that game was excellent. I just hope Ubi Soft shows us something of it at E3.

what a disapointment
\"In the last 12 months 100,000 private sector jobs have been lost and yet you\'ve created 30,000 public sector jobs. Prime Minister, you cannot carry on forever squeezing the productive bit of the economy in order to fund an unprecidented engorgement of the unproductive bit. You cannot spend your way out of recession or borrow your way out of debt.\" - Daniel Hannan
