errr, most of these actors live in aus or move between usa and australia, Sydney is where it\'s at these days.  Even so, where they cash in doesn\'t matter, it\'s where they learn to ACT and come from that does....

Saying that it is much better than the 1st one isn\'t saying a lot, as the first X-men movie was complete crap.

I thought it was good - but the movie needed cut down. It seemed long for the sake of being long, as if it was trying to be epic, but lacked the story to make it epic.

I\'d say it is Marvel\'s best attempt at the comic - to movie craze as of late. The first X-men was dull and boring, Spider-Man was overly cheesey and poorly done and DareDevil was just a huge mess.

It was a marked improvement over the first, but that isn\'t saying a lot. Still, if the series continues to progress, it may very well have a bright future.

Hmmm...

Unlike the people posting here, I\'m going to have to say I was a bit dissapointed with X-2.

Now dont get me wrong, it was still a visually stunning movie (Nightcrawler, Cerebro, Magneto) with some great scences (attack on the school, attack on the president, mystique catches me off gaurd every damn time).  But, I was let down from all of the hype I have been hearing over the past year or so.

The filmakers promised me an all out war between mutants and humans-- I only saw the cops and two fighter jets.  And who was representitive of the evil side?  Magneto, Mystique, and Deathstrike?  You call that a mutant army?

The filmakers promised me a brand spanking new mutant--If that new mutant was Stykers son than someone in the movie-making department over there needs to be fired due to lack of creativity.

They promised me Gambit--his name in a TV listing?  Come on!

Most importantly, they promised me THE SENTINALS--3/4 of the way through the movie I was just sitting there wondering how they were going to work them in...and they didnt.  It was one of the major reasons I went and saw X-2.

All in all I felt that X-2 was just a lengthened version of the first movie, not the hyped and promised sequal the producers made it out to be.

Buying into rumors and speculation only sets people up for dissapointment.  When it comes to films, it\'s best to keep your expectations as low as possible to truly enjoy anything.  It was a popcorn movie afterall and it was absolutely perfect as one.  There were plenty of subtleties for the comic book fans and plenty of action and story for non fans alike.  Over the years, I\'ve grown a little bit similar to Ebert when it comes to rating films.  I enjoy a movie with action and spectacle and judge it on different merits then say a psychological thriller or a mystery.  When I do that, I just find films to be much more enjoyable walking into the theatres and expecting to be "Wowed" over and over again and because of that, X2 was an incredibly enjoyable popcorn film.

Saw it saturday night.... I loved it!

SPOILERS!!!

I really liked the effects of nightcrawler.  But what really suprised me was the killing of humans!  Wolerine kicks major ass up in there.  And the scene where magnito pulled all the iron out of that guys body and killed everyone with it was spectaular :)  I dont think the Pheonex thing was too obvious (escpecially for the people that have no idea who the pheonex is)

I totally agree ^ I was with someone who doesnt know the comics and they had no I dea what the last part meant about the phoenix: Nightcrawler please could we have gotten someone a little better all I could see was thumb thumbs running around him :-D and Rouge is cute but Jean Grey Damn fine assss hot. In the comics nightcrawler was never realted to mystique I belive or at least how i member it but somehow when the xmen cartoon airs on saturday I know the episode that says he is but I think they just did that for saturday cartoons.

I saw it yesterday, and I was impressed.

Kelly Hu is simply one of the most if not THE most beautiful woman on the planet.  Too bad she didn\'t have any dialogue.  [sp]Also too bad she had to be killed while she was under the influence of a mind control drug.  That\'s correct, isn\'t it?  There was one scene where she shakes her head and starts to come out of it, and then Stryker rushes over and puts another drop of the drug on her neck.[/sp]

[sp]The scene where Magneto escapes from his plastic prison was really done well.  He really appears to be almost godlike in his abilities; no wonder he\'s megalomaniacal.[/sp]

One more stupid comment:  The movie begins with a shot from space, plunging down to the Earth.  I remember thinking how cool it would have been to frame all these Marvel movies with a brief monologue by The Watcher.  I\'m not sure if he ever popped up in the X-Men comics, but he appeared in many other titles from time to time.  Particularly The Fantastic Four.  BTW, I\'m still waiting for a FF movie!  That one is mine.  :D

[sp]She starts to come out of it yea, and wolverine kills her while she\'s drugged. She talks once that i remember in the movie. That\'s when Mystique pretends to be the janitor. She asks whats she doing in there. [/sp]

Also

[sp]When the guard gets injected with all the iron, surely that would have killed him. I doubt any human could have lived from that[/sp]

I think you chose the wrong words there.  Nearly all movies are about fictional characters.  What you\'re trying to say is this is a Science Fiction Fantasy.  There are far more unbelievable occurances elsewhere in the story.  For example, what about Nightcrawler\'s teleportation ability?  How is that supposed to work?  :surprised

By comparison, it\'s easy to swallow a guard carrying around a little extra metal dissolved in his blood.  ;)

I thought it was great. Ten times better than the first. The story was much more deep. I am not saying it was all that, but pretty good. Can\'t wait for the next.
