Watching it now.

i have to say between this , Half Life 2 & Black & white 2.. it will be a busy old time on the up-grading my Rig front :(.

So far got a

1.4 Athlon Xp
Geforce FX 5200
512 Ram (non DDR)

so it looks like a new motherboard + CPU + DDR memory

Want to get atleast a 3 gig Athlon.

oh yeah and i will finally ditch Win98 ... thinking of Win 2000 Pro.

the fx 5200 isnt a bad card,  but i really wouldnt expect a constant 60+ fps on hl2. same goes for my 128mb GF4 Ti4200, once i get enough dough i\'ll try to upgrade to something like the 5900U or 9800pro.

yeah same here but from all information it should run prity well on a 128mb "baseline" card like the FX5200.

but again the more power the better.

i will upgrade my MB and CUP first (will help quite a bit) and then start saving for a more beefer GFX card.

put it this way Black and White  runs at a solid 56.8 FPS with my present system.

i will expect i  will get more if u update Direct x (still on 8a ...ooopppssss) and increase CPU power :D.

From planethalflife

While the new engine has all sorts of fancy features, it\'s still designed to scale and work on lower-end machines. Apparently a 700mhz processor and a video card capable of running DX6 is enough, although a 2ghz with a GeForce4 is recommended. Rumors about NVidia or ATI exclusivity are unfounded.

Interesting.  S.T.A.L.K.E.R. does not appear to be as high-tech as HL2, but kinda cool nevertheless.  It will come down to quality and gameplay.  I\'m looking forward to it anyway.  :)

Eh, you probably need the newest version of divx.  I didn\'t have any problems.

Meh ! The environment and everything inanimate looks great in this game but somehow the characters look really less great imo.
Somehow they don\'t blend in that well, whereas all in HL2\'s visuals looks coherent. :nerd:
