Geforce FX 5900 noise. . .
« on: July 20, 2003, 04:21:18 PM »
Are there any Attachments, Pariphials, or Heat sinks that will quite down my Geforce FX 5900? My computer already makes a bit of noice with the processor fans, but now I think it might just be a little distracting. Any suggestions?

take the card back and get the ATI.

Two problems solved there:

1.noise
2.better card

IF you have the mid level 5900(non ultra) then ATI is the way to go as there mid level cards beat NVIDIA\'s.

Indeed, just shows you that I hold no praise to the company. I don\'t allow Fanboyism, even from a company I once like, to interfear with my purchase decsions. I buy and priase what is best at the current time.

Sorry, NVIDIA has ****ed up in too much in the past year

Fanboyism is warranted sometimes, but when it comes down to the nitty gritty.. you have to go with the best. Right now, I\'m not sure if we can call nVidia the best.. although they were the prime choice in years past.

They have made too many errors; they\'re getting a little cocky, falling behind in the times.. relying on hype too much. It kind of reminds me of Nintendo in 1996, but I still love them. nVidia, I\'ll only renew my preference for them if they beat ATi this Christmas season.. without cheating.. *cough*

cheating?! that was just an optimization in the drivers to help acheive a better result in a benchmark (which btw is way overrated), Ati did that too its not like their innocent or anything.:)
caspian do whay NVIDIA said, unless its a 5900U or u just cant live with the noise, change it.
or if u like the card too much try looking for some new gpu core and ram heatsinks (tho i\'m not sure if they make them for the 5900).

I guess the noise is something you will have to put up with, it\'s the nature of those cards.

Unlike my ATI card of course.......;)
