The F1 is hot
« on: August 24, 2003, 10:30:16 AM »
Today was a great day. For first time in history a spaniard won the race. And he was Fernando Alonso. The One :) Now the table is really hot. Just see the 6 first classified drivers:

1   Michael Schumacher German Ferrari 72

2   Juan Pablo Montoya Colombian Williams-BMW 71

3   Kimi Räikkönen  Finnish McLaren-Mercedes 70

4   Ralf Schumacher German Williams-BMW 58

5   Fernando Alonso  Spanish Renault 54

6   Rubens Barrichello Brazilian Ferrari 49

Bad luck that Alonso missed two races due to mechanical problems. He would have attempted to get the third place. Who will be the winner? I don\'t see very well Schumacher this season. Perhaps his cycle has already finished, but he\'s a great driver and may win this championship. But I actually see the winner in between Montoya and Raikkonen.

Next season we\'ve already winner :p

Yeah, \'twas a classy drive, in winning, he becomes the youngest ever driver to win a grand prix.

PS. Come on Monty, steal the crown from under Schu\'s nose.

The F1 races aren\'t on the basic cable channels here in the states too often. I\'ve seen a few of them (one at Monocco last year).

I am glad Schumacher has been caught up, I would love Montoya to win the title this year.

I think Montoya will do it, the momentum is with Williams now. At the start, it was Ferrari, then a few races into the season, it switched to McLaren, now it\'s Williams turn.

I remember a similar scenario to this year, way back in 91, when the McLarens were untouchable for the majority of the season, with Senna and Berger creaming everyone. Then towards the end of that season, Williams made some massive steps forward with the FW14 chassis. By the end race, they were as dominant as McLaren.

The FW14, was then evolved into the FW14B for 92, and that car was the dogs bollox, it really was. If you didn\'t have a Williams FW14B in 92, you didn\'t stand a chance.

Hopefully, that looks like it may very well happen again, as people who are in the know are already saying that Williams are on the verge of producing a truely monumental chassis, based on this seasons one.

Fingers crossed, the tide may just be turning away from Ferrari (thank god)

Well, the new rules have been put down to achieve, among other things, more fun.
