100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time :^(

9/18/03 issue of Rolling Stone:

"The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time"

Did you think before posting that?  Are you trolling?  Or do you just have no damn clue what the hell you\'re talking about?  I vote for option 3.

I love Stevie Ray, and he is a personal hero for me in many ways.  However, he patterned a large part of his technique on Hendrix.  He covered Hendrix songs on most of his albums, and played them at every performance.  He stated over and over that Hendrix was one of his greatest influences.  Jimi invented most of what the rest of the modern guitarists on this list take for granted.

To say that "Every guitarist knows that Hendrix is not the best ever" is incredibly wrong.  I challenge you to find a professional guitarist that DOES NOT SAY that Jimi was the best ever.  If they deny it, they\'re just trying to gain some publicity.  Hendrix was the greatest guitar genius on this or any other list, and he deserves to be No.1.

WTF?  I\'ve defended ViVi before.

"Every guitarist knows that Hendrix is not the best ever"  is wrong.  Sorry, but you can\'t deny it.

The qualifier is the word "Every". That sounds like a fact and not an opinion. Just so you know. :)

BTW....I was #101. :p

Screw this list. There are so many legendary guitarists and some of them arent even on the friggin list. I certainly did not see Joe Satriani (Kirk Hammett\'s friggin mentor) and maybe even his friend/rival Steve Vai. On another note, Kurt Cobain was not one of the say "greatest" guitarists. I have respect for him w/o a doubt but hes not even up with those other guys. Buddy Guy easily is better than him and hes at #30.

W/e. If you have any common sense about "real" guitarists then you know this list is kinda f*cked. Not saying i dissagree completely but i dont see how there is any way people can be non biased and make an accurate top 100 list.

"66 Vernon Reid of Living Colour " man i didnt even catch this one. Thats old school. :D

Vernon Reid deserves to be higher on the list, if you care about rankings.  That guy is a monster.  His solo album "Mistaken Identity" is one of my all time favorites.  :)

When Hendrix was asked who was the best guitarist in the world he said Phil Keggy.  My friend worships him.. surprised he\'s not on the list.

Kermit the Frog\'s performance in the song "The Rainbow Connection" should have him at #12. He was rockin!

Hendrix also said that about Terry Kath of Chicago, another guy who didn\'t make the list.  :(
