Death Metal Bands
« on: October 15, 2003, 06:10:10 PM »
I usually stuck to metallica metal to slipknot but im starting to get more into death metal.

The only 2 bands i know of are At The Gates and In Flames, but the only In Flames cd i have is Colony which kicks ass. Im too lazy to figure out which bands are good and similar to ATG and In Flames. So any help from the death metal people (know theres a few) would be cool

Ah, here\'s a topic I like :)

In Flames is one of my favorite bands.  Clayman is prolly their best work.  Check that album out.

As for other metal bands, I don\'t even know where to start.  Do you have a preference as to cleaner vocals vs. more growling type vocals?  In Flames and At the Gates aren\'t really death metal.  There are a lot of other genre\'s of metal that are sort of followed by the same types of people.

Oh man, I don\'t even know where to start...

I\'ll just say Deicide and Brutal Truth and let nO-One take it from there.

Well you\'re already listening to two Scandinavian bands so I\'ll suggest a few more.

First and foremost I say try out Opeth, almost in a league of their own but people seem to call it progressive death metal.

Hypocrisy is good, my fav album is Obsenum Osculum (or whatever it\'s called)

Older Satyricon stuff is good, try out songs from Nemesis Divina but that\'s black metal not death.

More blackmetal you could try out Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Mayhem and a few more.

Then there\'s the obvious Cannibal Corpse, probly one of the most known death metal bands.

The Florida bands are damned good too, Obituary being my fav, but Deicide, Morbid Angel and Malevolent Creaton for instance are damned good

Anyhoo, it\'s 3:16am right now and I\'m tired, so I\'ll post again tomorrow.

ill check out some on amazon and start downloading. I kinda like the cleaner vocals better, but the guitars are the best part of it IMO, like At the Gates. Only problem with downloading now is i keep running into these stupid files that have 3 seconds of the beginning of the song then go to static. really annoying

Check out Opeth for sure, I love them.

I\'m listening to Children of Bodom-hatebreeder right now.  Try that album out, I think you\'d like it.

I don\'t even know where to start.  There are tons of different areas in metal.  Personally, I like a lot of progressive metal like Sympony X (which has amazing guitars), Pain of Salvation, Spiral Architect, people like that.

A lot of what nO-One said is good stuff to try.  I really like Hypocrisy, Morbid Angel, and Immortal especially out of that list.

Some other bands I enjoy that you might wanna try: Meshuggah, Exhumed, Vehemence, Iced Earth, Nevermore, Dying Fetus, Arch Enemy...so many more, it\'s hard to even know what to list.  Hope you get some good stuff man.

Dunno if it\'s actual death metal but, you ever heard Berzerker ? Very fast and powerful. :bounce:

Anyway, I\'m just happy Slipknot\'s recording a new album again and the intel on the recordings until now is very positive. I am waiting for it :thepimp: I am a Knotter. See my sig.

Btw, check out To My Surprise (incl. the Clown). No metal, but indeed very surprising.
