WRC3 Review

I like a rally car to feel flickable, all the other rally games I\'ve played felt like they were stuck in treacle. Colin has always had the most reliable handling package IMO.

One of the worst rally feels to date comes from the Gran Turismo series, utterly awful compared to it\'s tarmac track lovelyness.

(waiting to get roasted now!!)

WHAT??? GT Rally mode is one of the few rally games to get drifting RIGHT.

My only real gripe with GT rallying is the jumps are not big enough and there is not enough undulation in the tracks. That coupled with weather effects.

My problem with the accuracy of the Rallying was confirmed when I realised that the best rally car was actually an RUF RGT with 1000hp, dirt tyres and stilt-like suspension settings.

It could be my driving style though, I love to drift but wasn\'t comfortable with the GT3 rally feel.

I\'m all for opinions but that is whacked.

GT has been the only game for me that made the cars feel like they actually were 1.5 tonnes instead of 100kgs.

Games like V-Rally (3 in particular) and the CMR series make the cars feel like rubber erasers on wheels.

The first V-Rally was a lunatic, far too sensitive and was lacking the analogue stick on the version I had (they changed that later on for the Platinum release I think).

What I like about CMR\'s handling is that when the cars fly they feel heavy but when on the ground they\'re just so bloody fast to change direction. In GT3 it felt laboured, when rally cars in real life feel nothing like that and can change direction faster than you can think.

It\'s the only blot on the landscape of GT3 though, everything else is perfect (or close to).

There were a couple of issues regarding GT3, but my main gripe was that the cars didn\'t acelerate and go through
the geas rapid enough. a real life WRC would go from 1st to forth in about 4 seconds. GT3 took ages in the gears,
so that is a downside. but it was impressive. try reversing in CMR4 slowly whilst turning. there\'s your physics model,
but i understand why people like it. personally, it feels like your steering from the rear wheels (take a look in
external view) WRC3 the cars are dead pointy, the car follows the front wheels as it\'s supposed to do.
ahh well, we\'ll know sooner or later, but initial reports are sounding good.. check the forums at

there\'s a thread titled \'WRC3 Reviews\', there\'s someone there who allready has the game.

Agreed there\'s a problem with revving up in gears, I cured it by lowering the gearing to 15!!

The small cars suffer too, I drive a punto sporting (1200cc, 86hp, 5 gears) in real life and it revs up really quickly, waiting for second gear after pulling away is painful in GT3, like egg timer slow. But I don\'t consider it to be a blot on the landscape as the smaller cars are just space fillers before you get to the \'proper\' cars, proper meaning 400hp or more in my book.
