An unlikely trio..
« on: December 19, 2003, 06:27:08 PM »
Fact: I dislike \'Star Wars\'.

Fact: I dislike RPG\'s.

Fact: I\'m not fond of the Xbox.

Odd fact: I love \'Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic\'.

Yes, I am just now getting around to playing this game and I\'m almost through with it (at the Star Forge battle station now). I am playing it through as "BeaVis" a dark Jedi who has killed planets worth of people. I\'ve killed members my party who have defied me. I invaded the Sith academcy and they crumbled under my will. I posioned one planet\'s main resource and killed their great ancestor. Yes, I am the dark Jedi named "BeaVis".

My point? This game is great. Beyond addicting and much better than I ever expected. I hated the first two hours or so..No light saber...No force powers..Bah! Once I became a Jedi though, my dark ways prevailed over all. I found myself just goin\' from planet to planet trying to f**k with people.

I\'ll have to go through the game again, due to the fact I am missing some party members and I am somewhat curious about the light side ending..

Who else played this? If so - what did you beat it as?

So when are you going to give FFX or FFXII a chance?

Most certainly never.

I tried FFX  - boring combat and annoying Square story.

FFX2 - Also titled \'Let\'s play Dress up Barbie\'!

I played it as a mostly light-side Sentinel. I used Bastila/Carth as my team at first, then Juhani/Carth.

I thought the game was great, if a little boring at times. It seemed linear, but maybe if I play it again I\'ll feel differently about it. Also, I missed out on the Genoharadan.

I enjoyed Carth\'s cowering ... He was constantly wanting me to do things against the "plan" (to conquer the universe).

Yes, it can be boring. Mainly at the start, but later on I thought it was a blast. I only wish your character creation was more in depth, that way I would feel my guy was truly an indivual, but maybe the sequel.

FFX sucks.  There, I said it and I\'m proud I said it.  :)  Although FFXI and FFXII have gained my interest quite a bit as of late.  I like the art style of FFXII and I enjoy partying with others in FFXI.  It\'s a great deal of fun in that respect.

Contray to popular belief, I have given plenty of Square games a chance. I own FVII , FF8 and I\'ve played FFX. None of them have ever appealed to me, but then again, I dislike true turn based combat and the fact that they are so linear.

Something I apperciated about Star Wars: KOTOR was the fast combat and the fact that you actually make choices. Yes, to a degree it is linear, but I enjoy watching my character either slowly become a good guy who avoids violence or someone who kills without mercy.

I now look forward to Fable, Jade Empire and KOTOR2 (if there is indeed one). These games are the future of RPG\'s in my opinion and if that is the case, then people like me will actually start to enjoy RPG\'s.

Fable looks like the big one out of those 3, but chances are I\'ll own all of \'em.

Jade Empire = KOTOR on steroids in an oriental setting. That\'s enough to hype me.

KOTOR2 = KOTOR on steroids with the bugs ironed out.

Fable = Fable. The only way it could suck is if it suffers from B&W syndrome.

i\'ve always been back & forth on ffx. And to me ffx2 is just appealing to the hormones of male gamers. but ffXII has peaked some interest..at first i thought it was a ffx knockoff, but this title might stand on it\'s own.

Maybe the party member you\'re missing is ButtHead...

Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh...

Use the force to score...
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

beat KOTOR as a perfectly light sided Sentinal.  I was addicted to the damn game for a week, and loved every mintue of it.  It basically tops my list of RPGS and most Next Gen games.
