The owner of Kazaa has taken action against a hacked version of the file-swapping software, threatening DMCA action against anyone hosting the download

Sharman Networks -- owner of popular peer-to-peer software Kazaa -- has succeeded in eliminating a hacked version of its software.

Kazaa Lite K++ was touted as a way to protect P2P users from "organisations such as the RIAA" invading their privacy, but also blocked features of the Kazaa software deemed as adware and spyware.

Sharman Networks, according to reports, has contacted the Internet service provider of every Web site that hosted Kazaa Lite K++ and threatened them with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act unless access to the modified software was removed. This follows a move earlier in the year when Sharman Networks used the same legislation to force Google to remove links to the modified version or face legal action.

Sharman Networks had its eye on Kazaa Lite as long ago as April last year.

Kazaa became the most downloaded peer-to-peer software earlier this year, and has been engaged in running legal battles with the Recording Industry Association of America.

Such a shame, I pretty much use iTunes or Musicmatch\'s downloading service if I want to grab a single song but for car videos and rare obscure audio files (such as sound fx) I will miss K++. The last version 2.43 is also the best version. You can still find it via Google (though not easy), but Sharmon is also working against that as well.

It seems the official K++ site is recommending eMule. How do you guys like that program?

So what they\'re saying is, they\'re eliminating Kazaa Lite from every known public source.

Essentially that means people can still use it without getting caught but can\'t legally download it, no?

I already have kazaa k++ v2.43... and have a backup of the installation file. They can\'t keep you from using it, you just can\'t download it anymore.

The big problem is that there will (*probably*) be no more new releases for K++. 2.43 is awesome, but it could always be improved.

Besides, new versions of lite can come out on the kazza network, bittorrent network, etc...

Though I\'m sure that this will work EVENTUALLY, as it gets harder and harder to find/update. People will soon discover shareaza though, and other proggies.

I think that Bit Torrent will get most of the users in the next months: easier to use, more secure and pretty faster than kazaa and emule.

ok guys if you want kazaa lite then try this

i garuntee you can find it everytime and with no trouble

go and download kazaa regular ad whore version - then do a search for kazaa lite or k++

bingo tons of dls
