I\'ll just wait 12 months and get a real 5ghz computer.  I don\'t really want to go to the store and buy liquid nitrogen every time I want to look at internet porn.

Seems like kind of a waste of money anyways.  In 12 months they\'ll probably be close to a "standard" 5 Ghz chip, or 24 months tops.

EDIT: Oh, I got it.  They\'re trying to make it NOW.  Yeah.  Definitely a waste.

every 18 months computers double in speed.  No clue how in the hell this rule has held up as long as it has, but it\'s been pretty much right on for many years now.  So with that. we are only a year away from 5 ghz.  Damn, that\'s freaking fast.

we need 1,000 Ghz already. :)  Computers are still too slow!  I want to able to encode my TV captures to Divx in 5 seconds.

cool vid vid, they did the same thing several months ago with a 3ghz to get 4ghz (used Promethia refrigerated cooling tho), they broke the record again.

ermm don\'t think it would work the same as a single dedicated CPU.  Would a two 1Ghz CPU setup benchmark the same as a 2Ghz system?  Prolly not.. work can\'t be divded perfectly in the middle like that.

IIRC a dual cpu system only performs 30-40% better than a single CPU of the same speed.  You won\'t see an 100% performance increase.

The program has to use the second chip too.  Finally After Effects 6 uses both chips.  Makes a big difference.

If you haven\'t noticed i was being a smart ass..
he said 5 ghz system. doesn\'t matter if it benchmarks the same or not. 2x 2.5gig dual system is still 5 gig (total). It just doesn\'t perform on the same level. Mainly because you need complex multithreaded software to get a increase on a dual cpu systems. You get about 10% increase on performance in standard apps. Even less then single cpus in some gaming benchmarks.


and mm, you still say you\'ll get no performace increase from a 64bit cpu on a 32bit OS.. (so any credibility you have has gone out the window) guess what, you do.  So bite me.

I finally able to solve the problem with my computer red light that doesn\'t blink.  You know, the blinking hard drive with a symbol of a cylinder.  But the computer still run jerky.  Not as fast as it uses to be.  Makes me curious what could cause this computer to run slow.
