January 09, 2004 - Konami today announced at its Gamers\' Day press event that Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo and renowned grappling developer Yuke\'s would be teaming up to produce a unique wrestling title exclusively for the PlayStation 2. Made in conjunction with CG movie gurus, Polygon Magic VSL, WWX: Rumble Rose could definitely turn out to be one of the more unusual (and most likely popular) games this coming November.

"WWX is a powerhouse combination with some of the best wresting action found on any platform, sexy female models, audacious poses and bold moves - all delivered with state-of-the-art graphics for a visually stunning game," said Akari Uchida, producer, Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo.

"When Konami approached us with the concept, we could hardly wait to get started," said Yuke Taniguchi, president of Yuke\'s Entertainment. "We are excited to develop a new style of wrestling game - one that provides a high quality wrestling experience, but also introduces humor and a whole lot more sex appeal."

Though it is planned to be a graphics-intensive experience, Rumble Rose will also feature an interesting combat system that allows players to develop unique styles for their wrestlers. Players will be able to change the personalities of their wrestlers through their actions in the ring, which will then translate into changes in costume, attitude, and wrestling style options. Insults and taunts will prove a lot more important here than in your typical wrestling title too, and many of the maneuvers are said to leave opponents in, what we will call, "compromising positions".

At press time, only two different characters have been officially revealed: Dixie Clemets (country western cowgirl) and Reiko Hinomoto (classic Japanese female wrestler). Each one boasts a unique array of moves like the Dixie Buster, Double Moonsault, and the classic German Suplex, and their methods of pulling them off are quite "interesting."

Definitely more along the lines of games like Def Jam Vendetta or Backyard Wresting, this over-the-top grappler should definitely spark some conversation around the coffee cooler. Judging from just the 5 pictures alone it certainly looks like Konami want a slice of the dirty old gamer market

on a semi un related note... is it just me or are konami getting S$%T hot character models.

i mean there these and then there is the mind blowing Silent Hill 4 ones too.

The game was announced for Europe late last year. Perverts in the UK have nothing to worry about.

And I\'m only slightly embarrassed to be wanting this game.  Yukes is helping out, so it might be passable. And it promises to bring the booby. So I\'m sold. Heh..

Well Speaking as a new Konami sports fan (thanks to Pro Evolution Soccer), if they can replicate some of the success currently enjoyed by PES over FIFA 2004 then this could be the start a challenge to EA BIG series.
