EA just said on their conference call they expect Sony to price PSP at $199-249 with software at $39.99. A release date of November or perhaps early December and for Sony to ship 3m by March 2005.

$199-249.. 1,443-1,805  .. wow, not bad :D Gotta love the weak dollar.

$200 for a portable?
Suicide, most likely. Sony needs to realize that the portable market is a lot different than the console market. Most people still consider portables a kid\'s toy and inferior old technology products. Most people won\'t pay that for a portable.

PSP is not competing on the same market as the GameBoy\'s, its more of a "toy" for men that are 18+.

It can play games (:p ), play games via a wireless network (9 players), play movies (DVD quality), play music (Mp3) .. It supports Sonys Memory Stick so you will most likely be able to transfer MP3 audio/Videos from your computer (PS3?) to the PSP.

It might have other Palm like features, like GPS navigation (so you can use it in the car) etc.

Games, Movies and Music is confirmed.. The other is mostly rumours, so we will have to wait for E3.

I just hope its games are region free. :(

$200 is indeed a good price I believe if it can do all these things and more as well as be powerfull enough to produce high quality 3D graphics then.

Mmm, $200 is a import friendly price (considering we ALWAYS get raped in Europe, in Sweden you must pay 25% VAT too!).. I will import if the games are region free.

I don\'t know about the PSP.  Most people don\'t have memory sticks. Most people don\'t download movies. Most people don\'t need an mp3 player (that\'s what CD burners are for).

The PSP is a bunch of shit most people don\'t need, and oh yea, it\'ll play pretty looking games for $200.

I\'d like to see Nintendo take ten bucks off the cost of most GBA games and be done with the PSP.

Since Europe always gets screwed, yes. :(

Eiksirf: Then PSP is for the people that do have all that stuff, and want something more then a Super NES. :)

I can say with full confidence that out of ALL the millions of GBAs sold I have only seen ONE person over the age of 18 play it and at least 20+ younguns play it. So what that tells me is that the majority of the handheld market seems to be under 18. I just don\'t see a handheld system that targets older gamers being succesful.

We will see.. Sony might create a "new" market like they did with the PSX (PSOne)? That is what they are aiming for.

Right now the GBA does not interest me, it would take something like the PSP to get me interested (I like things which can do lots of different things, the more the better IMO), and it already has (I\'m a prylbög = gadget fag, so naturally Im interested).

I have a feeling PSP will do just fine. :)

I agree with Fastson. GBA doesn\'t interest me in the slightest but the PSP actually does...

That\'s because you are either (1) a fanboy (2) someone under the impression 3D always equals better. I figure it\'s abit of both.

You are a friend of "jack of all trades" and "master of none". In that case, go get a friggin\' Ngage. Actually, if we look back far enough, I\'m pretty sure you trashed the N-Gage, but now that Sony is doing it, you\'re all for the idea .

And I figure that you are either: (1) an arrogant moron who thinks he knows better than every one else (2) who lives this 2D-nostalgia dreamworld and can\'t snap out of it and hates everyone who doesn\'t. I think it\'s not just a bit of both, I think it\'s a lot.

I own the original GB, a DC, PSX, PS2, Xbox.... yeah I\'m a fanboy.

And btw, I\'ve spent the last week playing X-Com: TFTD on PC. Gee golly, it\'s a 2D game!
