What does this mean?
« on: January 30, 2004, 09:17:58 PM »
Okay,

I did a little research, i read in amazon.com where a reviewer review a Lite On DVD burner.  He said he use both Maxell and Memorex blank DVD Rs.  He said he upgraded his Lite On for it to make the burner compatible with current dvd player.

He said he burn home video to Maxell without any problems.  But when he burned video to Memorex blank dvd Rs, it doesn\'t play in his dvd player.  He said to fix this, he had to burn the ISO image first before burning the whole entire video.

here is the quote
Quote
(for example, I can burn video files straight to the Maxell DVD-R\'s no problem, however on the Memorex media, I have to create an ISO image first and then burn that before it can be recognized in my DVD players. Not sure why, just is.)

so, i have two questions:
1) What is an ISO image?
2) How do I create it first before burning the video?

Anybody knows? (theomen, soulgrind, and thx comes to mind)

ISO images are what most dvd players read, it\'s a grouping of VOB and IFO files.  If you rip a dvd yo will end up with these files, in order to burn this so the dvd player will read it you have to create an image.  There\'s lots of programs out there that will do it, but nero 6 is the simplest (right click on add files in the ISO burn screen, and select all the files you ripped)  You could also use dvd decrypter to rip and to burn.  Or you could use DVD shrink to rip and reauthor the dvd and burn with nero.  Or reauthor with ifoedit.  Go check out doom9.net

ISO = CD/DVD disc image. All of the data in one file.

Theomen gave you some pretty useful information on how to create them.

Okay, I will try that method when i first get a dvd-RW because i don\'t want to mess it up and wasted another blank disc.  Two questions:

1) Know any place that sell blank media cheap, i am looking to the RW media that is erasable for now.

2) Do you know how to make an ISO first using Pinnacle Expression or Easy CD Creator (crappy software if you ask me).  Because I have some D8 tapes (i know MiniDV is better) that i transfer to the computer and i wanted to compressed and converted to MPEG-2 and burn into home video dvd.  But, i think it burn the ISO last and the video first.  I wanted to do it the other way around.
