Do you guys cross out your credit card number when you sign a receipt at a restaurant?

I\'ve been doing it for many years and it hasn\'t been since the last year that they have finally started Xing out some of the numbers so that someone can\'t steal your info.

On your receipt at the restaurant is your name, signature, Card number, and expiration date.

THe cashier doesn\'t need any of this. They just need the authorization code.

Well now they are saying that people with cameras on cell phones are walking by tables and snapping pictures of people\'s bills after they leave the table.  Especially at a bar.  Then they have all of your info.

ugh...  Why do we really need a camera on our friggen cell phones anyway.

I\'ve never looked at the receipts at work but I\'ll have to check it out.  I never really thought about that, scary how this world works.

Well you would expect at the printing quality most receipt machines print at, plus the yellow/white paper, and diluted ink, plus the darkness of the bar, and distance you could get without anyone noticing doesnt add up to a whole lot.

If I remember correctly, only the last few numbers are listed, the reason for this is that exactly.

No..  Very few machines print only the last few numbers and it\'s only been recently that they have started.

Believe me, I have been crossing out my number for over 6 years...  Matter of fact I did it today twice.

And you are being extremely over general with your setting of the bar.  You can see very well in virtually all restaurants.  pill popper.

lol.  After that thread I subconciously skim all of that dood\'s post now.

I can\'t remember the last time a receipt showed the full CC#.  All major retailers and restaurants x out all but the last 4-5 numbers.  It\'s probably just the few mom & pop shops with old machines.

most places I go just show the last 4 digits....but then again, I don\'t eat at the backwater dives Vid does.

In the last year or so all receipts printed at work have x\'s in the middle of the number. If we look back for achive purposes though on the computer screen, the full number is visible.
