Asus Magic Geforce FX 5200
« on: February 20, 2004, 11:57:01 AM »
God dammit

I used to have a very crappy Geforce 4 MX 420 and just recently upgraded to an FX 5200 but I have a problem. Halo looks much better now but the framerate is very annoying, when I snipe, the whole screen becomes blurry and now there is fog.

Any help?

BTW, I have the newest drivers. (53.03)

you\'ve gone from one shit heap.. to another.. Sorry to say dood, but the fx5200 is probably on the same level as your ti4200 card. My Ti4400 card out performs my brothers FX5600 card... Shame really.

Yeah, you basically went for the worst of DX8.0 to the worst of 9.0...sorry man...bad purchase.

Should have asked before you bought ;)  return it if you can, and get a ti4200 :p

If you wanna stick with DX9, youre gonna have to spend more cash.

I\'d return it but it was given to me by a friend who just bought a 5900. I\'ll just save up for a Radeon 9800...

I didn\'t realize it was free.

Yeah, 9800pros can be found under $200 now, sounds like a good plan.

It seems as if nobody knows too much about vid cards, including me i guess. It would be nice to have a thread to see who could build the best pc for $1000 or less (ie hardware/software list and prices), but i dont know who would actually do it.

Of course this is just an evil plan to sit back and have people do my shopping for me. Bwahahahaha!!!

There\'s budget, and then there\'s super-budget. (or "I don\'t care about performance.. just run my games")

Budget would be a Radeon 9600 or GFFX5700. If you couldn\'t spend more than $200 and you needed a solid card, either of these would do. Things like FX5600 and under and Radeon 9200 and under are old technology.

They market them as part of the same series, but they\'re in a different class altogether.

I\'m not sure who started it.. I think it was nVidia when they put out GF4MX\'s which were closer in performance to a GF2-GTS than a normal GF4..

GF2 GTS > GF4 MX.  It\'s a seriously stripped card that\'s meant for the average Dell user.
