No, actually this is better than what happens in US prisons.  Over here, we do everything we can to make sure you die behind bars.  Of course we don\'t reap any compensation on the back end like the Brits do.  :D

He should sue them for wrongful imprisonment.

I thought they were already giving him a "settlement."  Isn\'t that supposed to compensate for wrongful imprisonment?  They were withholding part of the settlement on the grounds of this food and lodging charge.

This is absolutely insane. They made the mistake for wrongfully imprisoning him. They should pay him for the room and board.
