I was just called down to my company\'s sales office because they said that they have A VIRUS!!!!!!!

"It\'s on my screen and I can\'t get rid of it.  It has a skull and stuff and looks scary"..........

I went down to check it out and it was a popup ad for "Dreamcatcher" on DVD.

My boss at my last job was a complete idiot:

Boss said his printer was broken... didn\'t have any paper in it.

Boss said his computer was running slowly... never cleared his IE cache in 2 years!

Co worker said his computer wouldn\'t print... come to find out it wasn\'t plugged in.

I have a ton of them, but they are mostly from the older people in the office who never grew up with computers.

Typically, the best way, Vivi, is to throw your computer out the window.

Too numerous to list them all. That is the reason I take away everything that can cause idiot questions in the domain.

Most of my work mates aren\'t into pcs, or have very little knowledge. But this place called Computer World. http://www.cworld.com.au  are full of knobs. These guys are total morons. Here\'s a few examples of their stupidity and i kidd you not.

My brother and I went into Cworld awhile ago to get a Liteon cdrom, Its not worth the hassle of going through wholesalers when Cworld can get certain items and resale at pretty much wholesale costs, anyway we went in there because Newell wanted a standard liteon 52x cdrom.
He ordered it and they bought out a 52xW 32xRW 52xR burner. He payed for a 52x cdrom and walked out with the burner. Now whats even more amazing is it had to go through at least 3 to 4 people before it got out the door, The guy who did the ordering, The guy who did the pick, the guy who brang down the order and the payment chick that clears it for sale.  Thats a lot of dumbshits.

Another time I went into there looking for 1 stick of pc3200 DDR kingston Value mem. I rang before going and they told me it was in stock, which it wasn\'t. Then the guy tells me to try a Transcend stick instead.
I told him that the memory SPD (timings) were different from kingstons (i also wanted to change the mem timings anyway) and said it wouldn\'t work with my current kingston chip. He told me it would work fine blah blah blah.
So i told him i would give it a go, if it doesn\'t work i\'ll bring it back. He agreed and i took it home. Tested it with memtest and what do i get. Shitloads of memory errors. No matter what timings i used, Spd, lose, tight, aggressive etc nothing worked. So i took it back and ended up getting 2x 256 pc3200 kingston value mem chips instead.
Didn\'t bother me because my motherboard only supports 3 mem dimms. Bank 0 being dimm 1 and bank 1 being dimm 2 and 3. So to use dual channel i could only fill 2 with the 512meg anyway. If i added another 512 it wouldn\'t work right.  When i was at the counter about to pay for the mem sticks i watched a dood go down stairs with a trolley carrying a poor guys pc (non built) that guy refused to pay for it. I don\'t blame him.

I finally got so irritated - you have to remember I am not an IT person - that I started making up stuff.  He would ask me what was wrong with his computer and I would tell him that "the quantum flux compacitor was damaged because the core was breached."  I know its all jargon and wouldn\'t even make sense to a Star Trek nut, but after dealing with idiotic questions for 2 years I had had enough.

After saying all of that I said it was beyond my knowledge - even though it wasn\'t - and he should call IT.  That is when IT busted him for looking at kiddie porn by looking at his IE cache and history!

yep, he wanted a normal Cdrom and walked out with a burner. He didn\'t pass 4 people. The burner went through atleast 4 people working there before it got to his hands.

How they work is you walk in, go to the back of the store where they have desks setup with salesman behind them. 8 desks, 8 doods etc.
You go to one of them and order your products and the guy/gal will call through the order to the guys in the warehouse.
It then gets picked and packed if needed. Then other people check and carry all orders through to the sales people at the front where they check over it again. Finally they give it to you, to go to the payment counter.

It started with the guy who did the pick, the guy who carried the order, the sales guy who gave it to newell. Then the chick that did the invoice for it.

We have about 20 computers at my work all hooked up to a central server and all connected to business DSL.  My boss is pretty old (probably in his late 60\'s) and is convinced that dial-up is much faster than DSL.

His computer is the only computer at my work that goes online through dial-up, we tried reasoning with him and telling him otherwise but he won\'t hear it.  He\'s old and stubborn, so if he\'s happy with it fine.  He\'s also convinced anything he does here at work (making word documents or spreadsheets) will automatically show up on his desktop at home.

We don\'t want to lose our jobs so we try not to treat him like a dumbass.  We just get a kick out of how dumb with computers he is.
