Gman: Of course not, they had very strong evidence against him, not to mention he confessed (but pleaded insanity).
THX: I\'m sad to say its not... anymore

Murders are not so common but they do happen, and sometimes they are random.
No political motive, Mijailo himself says he is not interested in politics. The only motive I can think of is that he hated women, but that does not explain why he did not attack Anna Lindh\'s friend instead of Lindh (her friend was standing much closer to Mijailo than Anna was.).
The court thinks he saw Anna Lindh inside the shopping mall before the attack and that he was watching her from the 2nd floor, trying to find her (the security cameras show him wandering around looking for something, he himself said he was looking for an exit. Though this does not hold much water since right after the attack he found the exit right away.), so he planned the attack a few minutes before it happened.
But no clear motive, not that I have heard of anyways.
