not anymore....

524whp stock block

I hope my SRT can do that one day :D

In all seriousness, even this has me surprised as I couldnt even run 247whp on my stock 1st gen block for more than a month before meltdown.

that\'s crazy, did he have to upgrade the turbos and inject nos or nv20 to get those numbers?  Plus a pretty smooth curve considering it\'s a 4-cyl.  Can u link to the thread of the car owner?

There\'s a guy in the Maxima community who did the same thing.. got over 500tq on the stock block AND stock tranny.. still ran low 12\'s.

So this car pretty much only drives in a straight line, right?  I can\'t imagine how you can put that much power into a FWD car, and expect it to corner in a non offensive way.  If I\'m wrong, that\'s cool, but for now I can\'t imagine it.

A friend of mine had a souped up Neon SRT4. Two words.... Torque Steer.

He crashed it into a gaurd rail last Fall. Had nothing to do with racing. \'Twas black ice to blame.

Hehe....well...that\'s what HE said. Except for the "lousy driving and poorly installed parts" part. :)

The guy is building a street/strip car. Why would he be interested in modding to spec for a road course?

On that note, there is a great roadracer/ enduro guy named Dale Seeley that does run a heavily moddified SRT on nothing but road course\'s and has no problems with winning consistently.

Another guy..Erich Heuschele took 1st in the mid-priced sedan class at one lap of america with a SRT. He also took 8th overall in a large field of "true" sports cars like diablos..vipers... RGT\'s...TT 996\'s..ZO6\'s.....etc..etc.

Torque steer occurs on almost ALL FWD cars without equal length drive shafts. And it can/will happen even on those with them, but it really isnt a problem.

your friend sounds like a dumb ass. torque steer isnt that bad of a problem for a driver.

Thats really nice for a Max. This was on one of the VQ blocks? I think its VQ anyway.

As for his car, this is what I got from him.

GT3040R
Tial 38mm
Tial BOV
Mopar stage 1 ECU
PowerPaq piggy back fuel computer
Griphin intercooler

we start tuning it.. it goes dead lean at 4500rpms.. no fuel..

I bring it back to the shop, and drop in the usual suspects..

Aeromotive A1000 pump
#8 feed
#4 return (from previous tuner)
Precision 880cc Injectors
HONDA Injector resistor

we went back to the dyno to see what the extra fuel would do...

Keep in mind the Engine is COMPLETELY stock. the only thing changed has been the spark plugs and oil.

We will be taking it to the track tomorrow we will see what it does with the power.

Hey, I have no doubt that the SRT4 can be set up to run very effectively on a road course.  In fact, if I recall correctly, they handle pretty well in stock form (compared to most mass production cars).  No need to convince me.

My question is with regards to this particular 524HP Neon.  If you want to go fast in straight line, why use a FWD car?  It seems it would be much easier to start with a different platform.

Of course, I guess that\'s part of the attraction.  Other cars have already been taken to the limits of their potential by other engineers.  Doing it to a Neon is like "going where no man has gone before."  Is that the situation here?

For me personally, I\'d prefer to start with a Supra or a 300ZX if I wanted to go fast in a straight line.  :)

It was the way I understood what you posted. my bad. Plus it doesnt hurt to show proof to the other non-believers who can only say its a shitty car or its just a neon(which it shares nothing but a shell) or the famous...its a gay car. Non of that matters when all one see\'s is the tail lights of said gay car. :)

Thats exactly why i got into the 4bangers anyway. I used to be a V8 guy..still am. It\'s just fun as shit to see the looks on the face of the guy with the WS6 TA as you pass him...quickly. :D

I like many many cars. Thats why I dont know what I want to do now. Ive done honDUH..ive done like 6 neons...ive done nissan...ive done DSM. I would like to do a last gen supra, but i dont want to be in the joke. What do 400,500, and 600hp supras have in common? They all run 12\'s :)
