Half-Life 2 Delayed even futher
« on: April 18, 2004, 03:43:29 PM »
Funny, I remember value saying that HL2 would be released OCT 2003, now it looks as if the game still isn\'t going to make the oct 2004 date.

To be honest, I truly beleive the beta that was stolen was actually all valed had, I mean after all the cracker(defenition of a hacker is someone whom only glaces over breached information) infultrated Values whole system, and toothpick cleaned the whole place out.

I\'m not waiting on his journal and the game can\'t be delayed again if it has no official date to begin with (aside from that September 29, 2003 date it had long ago before their systems were hacked).

One last thing, it\'s VALVE.  Not "value" or "valed" or "values."  It\'s just VALVE.

(1) No one asked you.

(2) Hardly. Half-Life 2 will sell a ton and i never had an offical releae date, \'cept the one Ryu mentioned. All you are going by is what retailers and fans expected. Valve has not came out and sid when it would be done. Get over it.

Seems to me I hit a soft spot-- ouch put some ICE on it pal.
Obviously you did not get the humor there.

Let\'s see, #1 all the 9800XT owners were expecting to receive the damn game sometime within there cards generation. I mean Valve really screwed up, taking ATI\'s money and not delevering.

ALSO VALVE were the ones who said the game was going to be released sept 2003, ok so they delay the game, how long, well I think it\'s safe to say minimum Q3 if were luky.  Look if the game was not near ready why did they announce it to everyone that it would.

Also IIRC VALVE mad a big statement long ago when they were announcing the release date, that they had keep quite throughout the year because they do not believe in releasing information about the games release date until it\'s final stage.

Seems to me they never had the game finished, which makes me wonder how pissed ATI must be. Do I believe that MR.X stole everything valve had, I would say YES, after all he did have full access into there system.

Anyhow I am not totally putting the blame on valve, but my concern was that if the Cracker did reveal everything valve had worked on, why did they even open there mouths about the games release, sort of hypocritical of what they said earlier.

Who is arguing against that, buddy I am a big time valve fan, I know the demand for the game, considering it looks to be the most promising mod community friendly game ever, just imagine.

Give it a break. Games get delayed and still turn out great, so what\'s the problem? If you want to talk about delays, let\'s talk about \'Duke Nukem Forever\'.

This thread has been reopened pending probation.  I am just interested in what people will post since I\'m really interested in Half Life 2.  If any bashing starts though, I\'m going to kill whoever starts the trash.  :)

no i am not, source:

"In an interview with gaming magazine Polygon, Gabe Newell of Valve indicated that Half Life 2 might not make its 2004 release date.

Newell had the following to say:

"We\'ve already spent millions into this project, and we\'re willing to spend as much as we need to make this the best first person experience ever. If that means delaying the game to 2005, we\'ll do it without any hesitation. If it means sinking another $20 million into the project, we can do it. Rest assured, if we delay the game, it\'ll be only to blow your socks off even more when it finally releases."

This was published by VGPRO and is basically what I am going by, it\'s the most recent info in regards to the status of half-life 2\'s development. I believe the above statement gives people an idea potentially how long half-life 2 might be further pushed back.

PS. It made no sense whom ever locked this thread

when I bought my Ati 9800Pro it arrived with a free HL2 cupon. I filled it out and sent it to Canada. After arriving to ATI offices, they confirmed me through email that my games was already reserved and would be delivered to home as soon as it was available... it was about 3 weeks ago...

Gabe Newell recently stated that it would come out in 2004 and that\'s the last official "release date" given at the moment. I don\'t mind them spending more time making it even better. There\'ll be new info and footage of the game at E3 soon too.

Yes, I honestly have no problem with the game coming out later if it means, in any way, it will be improved.  Why complain about it at all?  Now, the things you should be upset about is a little game called Counter-Strike Condition Zero.  That was supposed to come out like two years ago and finally did about a month ago and was a total waste.  What took two years to develop is beyond me, but it\'s just hilarious that people actually paid for that tripe.

If Half Life 2 ships with the much hinted Team Fortress Classic 2 then i\'ll be very happy indeed.
