this game looks INCREDIBLE. I am a big fan of the series, but i think this one will take the cake as my favorite entry.

^^^those vids were excellent animal moma..it seems even tho you can lay out the zombies (ghosts) they still tend to come back to life..i can\'t wait for this one, i absolutely love the silent hill series. only one thing that bothered me slightly, and that was the sound effects for the demon dogs..i don\'t know they sound like they were sampled from some type of old cartoons that uses that noise for sea creatures...i\'ve heard it in numerous spider man,..x-men cartoons etc...meh it doesn\'t take away from the overall effect tho..i just would have used another sound sample...

This looks ok. Not too much better graphically than SH3 from what i can see. I guess they dont want to give people heart attacks but if they wanted to, they could make people piss their pants.

I mean come on, the only thing thats really scary about SH is the ambience w/o much BGM and the way the monsters look and growl etc. They dont have too many things popping out at you and the gore isnt that extensive really.

Dont get me wrong, i enjoy playing the games for the most part but i have to play the game at night with no lights and surround sound just to freak myself out. Gimme some shock entrances and some guts. Perhaps No sound but your footsteps in certain places?

Meh, maybe im just overreacting

1)Blood doesnt make something scarier.Take Friday the 13nth for example.Or tons of other gory movies

2)Neither are things jumping out suddenly. It gets predictable afterwards

Its the compination of sound and visuals and twists that make SH what it is

1) I didnt say blood, I said GORE

2) Shit that jumps out at you isnt always predictable if you dont do it in such a manner where it is. There are plenty of ways to incorporate these kinds of things.

SH is a good game and im not saying that its not. Im just saying that to ME, its not THAT scary (for a game that is supposed to be. And dont tell me its not because the director said that he ment it to be).

The Suffering has gore and more things jumping out.But non of these help it become an atmospheric experience.
The reason why it not enough scary for you isnt because it needs more work. Its becuase you have enough nerve ;)

All I can say is SWEET!  I love the SH and RE series!

i think the silent hill series can take a wee bit advice from the res evil series..only as far as when your charcater takes on damage..he should walk or run with a limp when injured heavily..i know this is basically stealing from res evil but..it will make the experience a bit more real....

Waste of time.

I could count the number of times my character was injured in SH3 on one hand. Buh, games are too easy when you can just run past all the monsters.

Some people bash RE for all it\'s back-tracking, but it at least made it interesting in that there was incentive to actually kill the monsters/use all your ammunition/be forced to think about whether or not you will shoot or just avoid them/ scare you more. At least, in the original game (and remake), and to a lesser extent 2 and Nemesis.

/end rant

yea i agree bob, the first re got it right, the others it had to much ammo, the first one, u didnt have enough ammo to kill everything, s o u had to think about whichones to kill.

i do love the sh series though, i so enjoyed the first one, got all 5 endings. sh2 was ok, sh3 was good again

yea the res evil series was great i liked only pt 1 & 2 and right now i\'m feelin\' outbreak..only thing i hated in res evil was the rocket launchers & massive weapons..most powerful weapon i want in a horror game is the shotgun...i haven\'t played remake..tho i heard that was good also..

silent hill imo is scarier because of the atomosphere and each game has a cast of new characters each with his/her own little secret sin...the story entices you to push along to find out what the charcater has in his/her dark past...not so with res evil..you basically know ultimately umbrella has something to do with it & characters are usually the same from previous games..
