I\'m a firm believer, that if you can\'t do something right, then don\'t bother at all and Sony obviously needs to abide by this rule. Almost two \'n half hours for a movie is unexcusable. It would make more sense, to drop the movie playback altogether and focus on the games / system design, but instead, Sony, as usual gives a half-ass attempt, so that they can say "LOOK, IT PLAYS MOVIES".... Seems a lot like deja vu and early PS2 DVD firmware, back when you had to guess if your PS2 would play a movie or wouldn\'t.

I\'m impressed with the quality. I\'ll be also with the price of the hardware and software.

Thats exactly what im saying. I mean it looks great for games in some cases but the whole battery life issue is just plain rediculous. There are movies longer than 2.5 hours and to have the thing just cut off in the middle of it is unacceptable. I guess they figure that nobody will sit there for 3 hours holding this thing looking at the screen.

I can understand that but its still no excuse. I say drop the movie aspect and work on keeping the game hours up. And it should come with a rechargeable battery. Just MO

I think they\'ve done a lot of things right. But hey, that\'s just me.

I agree.despite the fact that they do a few things wrong but not enough to hurt the consumer as much as offer what he wants

Yeah, thats if it at the right price. That could be the biggest mistake sony would make and then nobody would buy it.

That\'s great. Buy a battery expansion, so you give more money to Sony and reward them for screwing you in the first place. Let me guess, you also bought the HDD?

LIC is right. We shouldn\'t be fanboy-ish in any way in respect to PSP\'s battery life issue. Sony has had time to research why Game Gear, N-Gage and others failed....so they should know battery life is #1 priority. If the average real game app battery life will be no more than 5 hours ; PSP will fall flat on it\'s face.

I won\'t say it will fall on its face, but I do think Sony has had enough time to research the importance of battery life. Instead, they just assume everyone will jump on it, just like they originally did with the HDD.

Ok... so i did some browsing on average battery life for notebooks ; none of them last longer than 9 hours, and those are the specs from the best. The most range from 4,5 to 8 hours. the 8 to 10 hours PSP gaming is thus quite acceptable imo.
Also, consider this ; being 4,5 hours at one single place isn\'t really being \'on the move\'. And how many times do you find yourself out of urban reach outside of acces to any power outlet ?

Of course Sony should give us the best , for what a PSP unit has in terms of battery operation life. And imo the different grades of batteries unit system, which notebooks already have, is a good idea.

And Nintendo has never done anything wrong in the handheld arena? Get serious.

How many of you require more than 5 hour battery life on a handheld before recharging it? Seriously, I want to know.

I have a laptop, and I\'m not complaining about 2-3 hours of batterytime on it. In fact, I\'ve only once used it all up at once before having time to recharge it.

Even Centrino notebooks only have a battery life of maximum 4 hours Knotter. 8 hours for a new notebook? That\'s unheard of.

Most people over the age of 16 are not out and about long enough to use up 5 hours of their time on a handheld anyway. So it\'s not THAT important if you ask me.

^ I never said nor implied that Nintendo did it perfect... :(

In fact...my expierence with my GBA, playing MGS Ghost Bable, is that even high quality Duracells don\'t last longer than 10 hours.
Heck... I can\'t even stand to play THAT long in one session, on any small portable device....

I just hope that the overall Life time cycle ( # of recharges ) is big enough and that the adapter comes with the PSP by default.
