Okay, I know children are hard to deal with, But I really don\'t think it is neccicary to hit them.  All hitting them does is teach them what not to do, it doesn\'t teach them WHY not to do it.

y\'know a few years back i was at seaside heights, nj (it\'s the jersey shore..for those that don\'t know) and it was this white kid about 8 or 9 yrs old..they was arguing,..i came in on the tail end of it, but all i heard from him was "no mom i don\'t want to!" and he smacked the s**t out of her..i was like oh S**t! so the mother just looked in shock and said somethin\' like "jonathan!" and just stared at her..

i made a point to say the child was white because there\'s no way in hell a black parent would let s**t like that slide..it\'s tru that some kids in the urban set are up to no good, but trust,..those kids are gettin that ass whipped when they are doin somethin\' wrong...and wouldn\'t think about raisin their hand to their parent..

Which is why I don\'t understand why spanking is not illegal. I am in scouts and the kids that are in 8th grade up to my grade are respectable, a bit weird but respectable. The kids now in 5th and 6th grade would curse off the adults, me (I\'m a leader) and won\'t listen and do what they want and have no respect. That and they are all hopped up on Ridelin, which is over prescribed. I think they would be better if their parents weren\'t a) so rich, b) actually spent time with their kids. Parents in my town like neglect their kids (I live in a rich town but I live in the middle class area of the town which I really really like. Much nicer people in those areas. Everywhere else is snobs). Just my two cents.

Im 15, I do not have kids, But my 8 year old cousin is basically over my house 190 days a year, so I do see a lot of kids.

Yes, a lot of kids talk back to there parents. But parents are not always right. I think just as much can be achieved if you try and have patients with children, and try to explain things so they understand.

Clips I really want to say right off the bat that I have alot of respect for you and are one of the few people on here that I think I could hang with.... That being said and the father of two "white" children that whole thing was reaking with prejudice. A very good friend of mine (black) and his wife have a two year old boy and everytime you tell him no he yells NO NO NO NO and starts slaping you....... Almost to the point that I really dont want them coming around much because he is such a brat...

And for the spoiled children here who think hanging out with the younger cousin or little brother or sister counts for have some sort of knowledge about the subject EEEEEEEEENNNNNN WRONG!! You know nothing about it. I love my kids more than my life itself and I spanl my kids they are 8 and 5 but you know what I almost never have to spank them any more do you know why? Because I loved them and taught them that there is reprecution for wrong doing. That is exactly why kids today are soo terrible. They have no fear in authority the know if they do something wrong no one will do anything to them.

I will hit my children when they mess up, just as I was hit. This entirely new concept of "not hitting" your kids is a prime reason why so many delinquent kids are running rampant. Spanking your kid, does work. Beating your kid, doesn\'t.

Hitting your kids is the easy way out. You have a huge amount of emotional and physical power over them. You can either hit them and tell them not to do something, or you can teach them why not to do something.

well i respect you alot too bro..and how can i not? i gotta respect a man that likes a$$ shots almost as much as i do  in all honesty i figured it might offend a few but that wasn\'t my intention. i only go by what i\'ve seen & experienced..but maybe i should\'ve just generalized parenting altogether, because ultimately it comes down to the parent & race really doesn\'t play a factor as you just described. so i apologize if i offended you there cy...

I explain everything your problem is that you think because we spank our kids thats all we do to tell them whats right and wrong being a parent is waaaaay more than that you constatly have to explain things to them but after you explain.... and exlpain.... and explain..... Define "out of line". Most the kids who get spanked don\'t even deserve it.

Most the parents I see who hit and scream at there kids all the time have no idea what they are doing, they just can\'t handle kids and do the quickest thing they can, which is to make the kid cry I guess.

I just know people who have bad parents that always hit them. Im not talking about little 5 year olds, older kids, like 12 years of age and stuff. It is just ****ed up thats all.
