FSU had their national championship trophies stolen
« on: June 25, 2004, 03:52:12 AM »
Being a Gator fan, all I can say is, "whoops."  I was at both games and as it turns out, while I was shooting the game against Nebraska down in Miami, my wife was on the sidelines as well as an FSU cheerleader.  Heck, I could even have some upskirt shots of her if I look at my old video.  :artyon:

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida State authorities are searching for a pair of $30,000 Waterford crystal footballs symbolizing the school\'s national championships in 1993 and 1999 that were stolen last weekend.

The trophies, awarded by Sears for winning the final coaches poll, were housed in a locked wooden-and-glass case outside coach Bobby Bowden\'s offices.

There are no surveillance cameras in that area and the trophies were not insured, athletic director David Hart Jr. said.

Hart called the theft senseless.

"What do you do with those?" he asked.

The 1993 team finished 12-1, beating Nebraska in the Orange Bowl. The 1999 team went 12-0, defeating Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl.

Why were they not insured?  That\'s incredibly dumb.

I know.  Isn\'t that odd?  Although what do you insure them for?  How do you put a price on them?

Ironic that you bring that game up against Nebraska, and the fact that Sportscenter was doing a segment on "Worst Calls of all time" yesterday. One of the worst calls ever would have to be William Floyd fumbling going into the end zone, and the sideline judge BLOWING HIS NOSE as the play was going on, and in panic, calling the play a TD. You\'ve got the video, Vid, you could even check that one out if you wanted to :-P

What was Nebraska, a 2 TD underdog in that game? In the end, we completley outplayed them, except for the scoreboard. Ironic that we haven\'t played Florida State since.

See Yuz.
What do Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Matt Clement, and Carlos Zambrano have in common?

They\'re the pieces to the next great pitching rotation of our time, what else?

GO CUBS!

I vaguely remember that and I remember Charlie Ward having a controversial call as well.  I remember I was right on the goal line and I had a great shot of it.  My memory is killing me though so I can\'t remember which play it was.  If you can see the side lines on that play I bet you anything you\'d see me.

I bet it was either a student of UF or UM who stole them.
