Has anyone seen the great Arthur Penn classic The Chase? Absolutely stunning, with Robert Redford, Jane Fonda, and Brando playing the sheriff.
I also recommend the first version of Mutiny on the Bounty in which Brando played Mr. Christain against Trevor Howard\'s Capt. Bligh. The Ugly American was released one year later in 1963, with Brando playing the disillusioned ambassador to a fictitious southeast asian nation beginnning the process of a communist revolution.
There was a brilliant film released in the US in 1969 as Burn! which told the story of 19th century native uprising on a caribbean island, and the British government\'s effort to first support it against the Portuguese, and then destroy it.
Of course one cannot forget Apocalypse Now from 1979. Brando was the only actor with the frightening stature and intellect to make the character of Colonel Kurtz work in that story.
