What\'s repetitive?

Nintendo is family friendly. With a few exceptions*, their games are designed for people ages 5-105. :)

You\'re going to find that a lot of people who don\'t like something (not necessarily just Nintendo) probably don\'t know much about it. A person who enjoys gaming (especially console gaming) that vehemently hates Nintendo is off the wall, considering that Nintendo is (in most opinions) the most consistently brilliant game development giant in the industry today. Like I emphasized with the italics though, that\'s an opinion. :) Even though most industry sources would agree with me, everybody has to decide for themselves what they like. Do your own thing, don\'t diss something because some brat with a PS2 says that it\'s no good.

* Nintendo has published a few Mature-rated games, and they have an uber-kiddy game or two..

Consistently brilliant? Come on now. I\'m as big a supporter of Nintendo as anyone but that is laying it on  a bit thick.

For some reason I see Nintendo\'s next console and next generation games having a more mature look to them. I think they will still have the cartoony games we are used to but they will sprinkle some realistic games in there(not necessarily bloody/violent/etc.).

I\'m a huge Nintendo fan, but "consistently brilliant" may be pushing it. Fact is, Nintendo\'s efforts have been lackluster for most this generation.. Need an example? Mario Sunshine - for a platformer it was decent, but when taken as a Mario game, it was terrible... Even Zelda: Wind Waker couldn\'t live up to Zelda: OoT or Zelda: MM. Lugi\'s Mansion? Novel concept, but extremely linear and boring. Infact, the only two games that have stood out for Nintendo this generation are Pikimin and Super Smash Bro\'s: Melee.

I don\'t think it\'s laying it on a bit thick. If you factor in the GBA and past generations.. Nintendo has been the most consistent compared to other developers.. including monoliths like Sega.

Are they always brilliant? No. The question is.. when was the last time you saw a down-right bad Nintendo game? I don\'t know, because even their worse games have had redeeming qualities.

LiC: Here we go on SMS again. Sheesh. Everybody\'s gonna form their own opinion, but to say that SMS was a sucky platformer is just wrong. It was slightly unpolished and needed more stages, but the gameplay was all there.

.. And you know I\'ll obviously take offense at your omission of Metroid Prime as the cream-of-the-crop Nintendo title. ;)

wha wha WHAT!?  Mario 64 is the best Mario there is after the first 3.  It broke so much new ground when it was released.  I\'d still take that game over anything on Gamecube today.

I don\'t like Nintendo games, I just find them boring. I just have a different taste in games than Nintendo can provide me with, although I think that GC has resurrected my interest in Nintendo. Some good games to my liking on the system, compared to the horrible N64.

Even if Nintendo\'s new games don\'t live up to their last-gen revolutionary efforts.. they\'re still mostly grade-A.

You can\'t say that about most games today. Only a handful of companies have the same consistency.

I agree, Mario 64 is one of the best games out of that series. It all depends on genre I guess. I mean everyone has different taste so someone may love OOT because of it\'s incredible gameplay and vast evironment but then you turn around and someone else hates it for the same reasons. Whether everyone agrees or not Nintendo is still thriving b/c they appeal to everyone. Why focus specifically on one age group when you can target three generations? And no matter how long Nintendo\'s been around there aren\'t too many games that are exactly alike, some how they find new ways to induce a creative spark.

I still think Yoshi\'s Island is the best Mario game to date.  Don\'t believe me?  here it is, 29.99 on GBA and well worth every penny.
