« on: July 13, 2004, 11:35:22 AM »
Got myself the Thrustmaster Force Feedback Racing Wheel

    Features:
    ·  10 fully programmable action buttons
    ·  8 way D-pad
    ·  Heavy-duty reinforced double axis pedals
    ·  Gearshift lever ideal for Rally or Grand Tourism racing
    ·  Proportional acceleration and braking levers for an alternative to fully hand-controlled driving
    ·  Long central clamp with 2 adjustable screws for perfect stability
    ·  Unique wheel with replicas of the Formula 1 gearshift levers used by Ferrari
    ·  Double injection wheel rim and ergonomic curves offering maximum comfort for all hand sizes
    ·  16 programmable functions for custom game scenarios
    ·  User-friendly software for button programming

Paid $150 AUD and got a stand with it and better pedals.  I\'ve been playing some of my racers and man is it cool fun. Gonna get myself colin Mcrae Rally 4 today. Heard its one of the best games with it. I\'ve played so far
Need For Speed Underground ~ You don\'t feel much of the road
Midnight Club 2 ~ Feel pretty much everything but not some road surfaces.
Master Rallye ~ Feel Everything
F1 Racing Championship ~ Pretty much everything.

I have some older games. Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 1, 2, High Stakes, Porsche Unleashed etc. Which i\'ll try it on.  So many racers.. :)

Did you get a 5 point racing harness?  The regular seat belts suck at high speed pushing the G limit.

Damn I was going to make fun of him for not having a clutch pedal.  :(  Oh well.  :p

BTW are there any products that DO have a clutch pedal, and an H pattern shift lever, instead of the 2-position lever that I assume this is?

Not cheap ones, this was pretty cheap compared to most other setups, its also one of the best. Also, I haven\'t seen 1 single game that supports a clutch setup. I\'ve seen a few setups that have a clutch pedal. Mainly for arcade machines. It has the Gear Setup of F1 cars. Although i would prefer clutch and a 6 gear setup. There isn\'t anything that supports it gaming wise.

    http://firingsquad.com/hardware/actlabswheels/   found this.

u can add it to any steering wheel setup.  I may get the gear shifter. :)  Atm the clutch isn\'t worth it.

Question, I have always wondered where do people find space to bolt there steering wheel on there computer DESK, and if so isn\'t the wheel too close to the monitor?

I hope to purchase a top of the line Flight simulator- fighter stick(with force feedback), as soon as some game company develops a top notch fighter jet game for the PC.

    Anyhow nice purchase souldgrind!

Same predicament with the racing games, only worthy game I can think of playing on the PC is ralisport challenge, and that other one, all the others look like they came from the PS1.

Also a Kick ass F1 racer with DX9 and an awesome physics engine would be sweet. Is there any racers for the pc that support the Clutch?

Found some games that support the clutch.. Viper Racing, Nascar 2003, Nascar Heat, F1 Racing Championship etc. All the other games i listed do use the wheel quite well. I\'ve only listed the cons, not the pros etc. Everything else but the cons the games do.    I may change it over for a logitech Momo Racing Force wheel.  But i can test this for 30 days.

    The stand i\'m using

If they\'ve discontinued the stick i\'ll just find something else. They\'d be some else around.

The gear shifter and the pedals with the clutch look badass. Id love to get that. I hate having that fluky little stick. The only way i would buy it would be if you couldnt shift unless you hit the clutch. I hate that crap where games have clutches but you can shift w/o it.

Eventhough there is no clutch, Daytona USA 2\'s shifter is BOSS. (damn thats old school).

    8 Gears though? wtf
