Finally got a New Vehicle
« on: July 19, 2004, 03:17:20 PM »
Well i had been wanting something new since ... well forever - but my truck had been running fine despites its ever peaking 240,000 miles - then it happened - engine went bad - instead of paying for something to fix it and therefore spending more then it was worth i went shopping for SUVs since i wanted something big but not a truck - as i didnt have use for the bed anymore

well after a few places and looking for something i can pay easily - as in 250 a month

i ran across a deal in a mitsubishi - never been a fan of em but never hated em either - just never thought about a mitsubishi as in line with what i wanted - much less it was a car not an suv

... so after some wheeling and dealing i got myself into not a used car but a brand spanking new one at that - although its a 2003 - it was still new and only one within 3 states so i got some nice savings

So what did i get you say, Well i got a Mitsubishi 2003 OZ Rally Edition Lancer - and its yellow to boot lol - not my color or choice but was my only option - i ended up getting about 5-6 grand off thru negotiating and rebates - i think i got a good deal at least only cost me 12,500 and got the 10 year warranty to boot - something i wouldnt have with a used SUV that would have 40,000 miles instead of the measly 80 miles the lancer had

so i guess ill post pics as soon as i walk outside and take some with my camera - but what do yall think - i make good choice or a boo boo - btw im not lookin for top of the line sports car or anything fast - just happened to be what i saw as good deal and nice

Hey post some pics!  Did you get a Ralliart Lancer?  Anyway you should get some good deals with Mitsubishi - the rumor is they are in some sort of financial trouble.

Yes, I would not consider Mitsubishi these days because of their financial condition, but if the deal was REALLY sweet, it may be worth it.  If the car had 80 miles on it, that means it was test driven before you got it; a car fresh of the boat from Japan should normally have about 12-15 miles.  However, since this is a Lancer, it\'s probably ok because I doubt the people who test drove that car would have beaten the snot out of it.  Did you get an AT or manual transmission?

Now the good news.  You can some reasonable power increases with relatively affordable parts.  Of course, "affordable" is a relative term, but I think for this car, the parts market is broadening.  A turbo kit will actually put you into the 230 - 250hp range.  Please wait until after your Mitsu warranty expires though.  :)  Simpler mods such as chip, intake & exhaust are widely available.  Make sure you can return the car to stock though, because Mitsu is notorious for voiding warranties on the basis of modifications or driving at any track / autocross event.

fixed the pics and also my old vehicle was a 93\' GMC Sierra 1500 ext cab side step pick up truck

did great for its time and would have lasted longer but i prolly didnt take care of it as well as i should have - which is something im more motivated to do since this vehicle is my choice and not a hand me down in the sense - although i paid for my truck

The Ralliart shares some nice parts with the Evo.  Though it isn\'t AWD and doesn\'t have the HP it is a great car.  Doesn\'t that come with a Momo steering wheel?

And what is with all the Batman avatars?  Everyone knows superheroes with capes = ghey ;)

I hope I can get such a great deal if and when I decide to buy a new car...
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

You should take it back.

The steering wheel is on the wrong side.

Not bad. At least its not a truck. I personally cant stand the non evo lancers and i would take my Soob Outback anyday over one. I dont mean to rag on your car. Its a nice purchase really.

If only i had the money to blow on a car of that value right now.
