Yah, I did the HL2\\Doom 3 deal.  Great deal in my opinion especially since I don\'t live in Texas or New York [the only two states GS charges sales tax on].  The only problem is that I may have to have them upgrade the order from the standard HL2 to the CE.

Played Doom 3 on Sunday at my brothers house(he has a 6800 Ultra). Must say that after a few hours the game loses its appeal. Then again I think we all knew this before hand, Doom 3 is nothing mote than the original doom with pretty graphics.

Keep in the mind the first couple of hours the game is pretty awesome, but it\'s graphics just for the record is only marginally better than far cry indoor.

DOOM 3 none the less is worth the money so go pick your copy up
asap.

I knew this is how the game would be.  Graphics can only be a selling point for so long.  People will look back on this and see what all the fuss was about.  The people who will be playing it though will enjoy its single player game and then will enjoy its multiplayer aspects for a long time.  I\'m sure many here will enjoy plenty of levels just with the simple co-op functionality that a mod group is working on now.

Sigh* dont know if its worth the purchase + a new vid card. Ive been MIA with pc gaming for a long while w/ the exception of UT2004 every now and then. This and HL2 were what got me interested but with the pricetags of the new cards (that and some more ram), I dont know if ill make the jump from console.

Not impressed, or should I say I am bitter? My PC is not finished and won\'t be until early - mid September, so I won\'t actually play DOOM 3 until it is old new\'s.

Your not missing out on anything special. Now if it were HL2 and you didn\'t have your computer ready, I would be very bitter as well.

Yea my computer will hopefully be in by early september the latest. I\'ve been a non-gamer for awhile due to computer restrictions. I can\'t wait to learn and OC my CPU and vid card.

Haha, just finished playing a couple hours of it.  It\'s very fun and scary.  I hate having to switch back and forth between flashlight and weapon. :P  Multiplayer gets crazy when you get posessed, feels a lot like Quake.

The sound effects is great...really scary. The graphics make good use of lightning, but can be annoying after awhile.

Too bad the game sucks, just like every FPS out there...nay...i think there are better FPS out there.

Other then the original doom and quake 1, ID has never really been known for creating innovative/creative gameplay. Doom 3 as I\'m sure most people expected is nothing more then a game that showcases the ID engine.

ID makes the best engines in the pc industry, as many of us have been saying ID ought to just focus on making engines and leave the game creation up to the talted gameplay developers.  Matter of fact, most of the doom 3 engine was finished almost 2 years ago.

im running it on an anthlon64 3200+ with 1280 mb ram,  radeon 9800 pro 128mb ram.  im at 4xaa high settings and its running great. i just go into task manager and end a bunch of the processes i dont need before i play.
i bought a creative 89 dollar 5.1 surround sound speaker setup and that is the only way to go with this game. with the sound cranked and all the lights off its freakn scary. im only a little into it. just saw my first little piece of hell)
but man the scares are kinda like the dobermans jumping thru the window in the first resident evil. they really send you back in the chair haha
