Guitarists - how do you play this?
« on: August 06, 2004, 02:59:41 PM »
Im sure its quite simple but...

Is it just plucking the E string aswell as strumming G and B - at the same time?

E||----------------
B||---------5------
G||-------- 4------
D||----------------
A||-----------------
E||---------4------

There are a couple ways to do it, but it depends on what your hand has to do before and after that point.  :)

The most straightforward way is to use the I, M, A fingers on the left hand.  (Index, middle, and third finger.  Index finger mutes the A and D strings.)  If necessary, you could use your left thumb for the low E string, provided your hand is big enough.  :)

i dont want to make a thread and guitar players are the only ones that will get what im asking.

I keep hearing what i think is ozzy, but i cant figure out what the hell song it is. It *sounds like* (dont know the exact tab): if you play the big E string 535 pause 535 pause 53. Its driving me crazy and it might not even be ozzy, but the vocals sound just like him.

yea, i know it sounds like espn,lol. Just getting the general guitar verse. Its not tears in heaven either. If you have ur guitar in drop D you can play the bottom 2 strings together, and its distorted in the song.

Its not black sabbath though because the guitars and drums are too modernized. I want to say its the same period as \'it gets me through\' but i downloaded songs off of that album and couldnt find it.

no, thats not it either. Everyone iv asked doesnt know. Maybe its not ozzy but i swear the voice is exactly like him, so i still think it is him. Was there a tribute song or colaboration that he did recently? The Guitars dont sound like ozzy though.

You\'ve got to provide a better description of the melody.

yea. I dont know any of the lyrics which doesnt help. Its pretty hard to tell what hes saying. My brother thinks its the foo fighters er something but it doesnt sound anything like him so i dont think it is.

The whole verse is that guitar part above with the drums just doing bass drum once, then bass drum and snare. Like if you have the tempo of the tab above and hit one thumb down and then both thumbs together the next beat. Im trying to sound out the whole verse to remember what the chorus sounds like but i just keep singing another song in my head before i get to it,lol. It goes from that catchy kind of beat to a slower chorus. Kind of how Velvet revolver does in slither. It doesnt sound like it but it has the same idea.

The problem is you identified the pitches, but not the rhythm.  Are those eigth notes or quarter notes, or what?  That\'s the big problem with using tab only.  It\'s impossible to communicate rhythm.  Guitarists need to learn standard notation also.

i had a guitar class in school but i didnt learn anything,lol. My best guess is eighth notes because its up-beat. Think were fighting a losing battle and its impossible to type it to you. Iv asked my brothers, 2 other dudes, and you and still havent explained it well enough. 3 people heard of the song but dont know who its by either. If i figure it out ill post

whats a good recording system to download? iv tried like 5 different kinds on download.com but only one of them worked well and i cant find it anymore. But the beat does sound exactly like the espn intro. I keep trying to hum the lyrics but i start humming another song that has the same voice patterns
