"The Sony Computer Entertainment co-developed extensible, XML based, next-generation 3D file-format has met its first mile-stone.
Currently in development by SCE and a large number of major industry players, the new file format is intended to ease the pains of art assets creation and sharing facilitating for simplified development of advanced visual content. Criterion (now part of Electronics Arts), Alias (makers of Maya), Discreet (makers of 3DS Max, owned by Autodesk), Softimage (makers of Softimage 3D/XSI) and Vicarious Vison, are amongst those involved with the new format."
