Video Cards (help please)
« on: August 18, 2004, 09:15:09 AM »
I got about 150-200 bucks to spend and I want to get a new card ordered today...

I\'ve been getting opinions from everyone I know, so please give me some more.

Right now I\'m leaning towards a Geforce FX5900.

I\'m kinda confused cause I\'m seeing 256 cards for like 70 bucks. I thought the memory was the thing you looked for?

I dunno.

Help me out over here.

Out of the choices defintely go with ATI over Nvidia for that generation of cards.

There is an X600 XT for sale on New Egg - that is a their mid range card, but it is the next generation (X800, 6800).

EDIT Nevermind its PCI Express.

He got the ATi dood, re-read :)

I had both cards and I got better benchmarks with a 5900, so I kept it & sold the 9800.  But ymmv.

you really couldn\'t have gone wrong with either card there.  It basically comes down to preference of ATI or Nvidia

The best opinion you can get is from a hardware site. You made an alright choice, though.

What games are you playing to play with this monster?
