CD Burner Help
« on: September 03, 2004, 07:43:28 AM »
I can\'t figure this mess out. When go to burn a CD (data and audio) it will burn about halfway through the disk and spit it out saying there was an error. I thought maybe there was another program interfering with it so I closed everything. That didn\'t work. I went to msconfig and turned off all startup programs. That didn\'t work. I tried to burn a CD in safe mode. That didn\'t work. I\'m at my wits end I don\'t even know what to try next.

I would get another burner but I don\'t want to waste money if its a software problem.

Any tips?

What program are you using and what burner?  Can you post some specs?  Did you try using a different CD?  I have had burning errors before and just swapped out the CD as it was probably defective - actually I ran into 4 in a row once on a spool that were defective.

Burner =
Mitsumi CR-48XCTE

Software =
RecordNow(Came with computer), Ashampoo Recording Suite, Windows Media Player(Tried it to see if it would work)

Specs of the computer =
2.53 Ghz P4
512 MB Ram
Do you need more than that?

I\'ve tried different disks and have used up an entire spool of one set trying to fix this.

My suggestion before buying a new burner would be try different burning software like Nero?  Anyone else have any suggestions?  Record Now isn\'t the greatest.

Are you burning files from your hard drive, or a CD image, or are you trying to duplicate a CD?  If you\'re trying to dupe another CD in real time, like perhaps one that has some corrupt data for copy protection, that could be your problem.  You would need smarter software that can build an accurate image, and then burn it as secondary step.  I don\'t know what\'s the best for that purpose, but I used to use something called Blindread / Blindwrite.

If you\'re not duping a CD, then you probably just have crappy software.  Generally the free CD burning software they give you with the drive is crap.  Get real software.  I use Nero, and it works great.

To start of with, get a program like Nero, Alcohol 120% for cd copies etc. Make Images and use Daemon tools to check that they work ok...   Then burn away.. If that fails, try a different Media..  If that fails check your IDE ribbons are slotted in properly. If that fails, try different IDE ribbons, if that fails.. buy a new burner.. if that fails, buy a new pc, if that fails...    shoot yourself.

hope i helped. :)

iTunes is a really good free test for music.  Give it a shot and see if it works.

If nothing i said worked...

Being u Tried a Nero and/or alcohol.
Made sure the IDE ribbons are slotted in properly
and tried different IDE ribbons.

Also could try ASPI drivers.. If all fails

Then buy a new burner.. If its just started this problem out of the blue then most likely your burner has shit itself..
