New Computer setup...
« on: September 08, 2004, 11:06:59 AM »
It finally came in and I connected all the cables and what not, installed drivers blah blah...

The only problem is that I can\'t get my internet up. I had to activate windows over the phone. The ethernet cable is in, the other side is connected... If anyone knows how to set up my connection please help, my old computer connects fine and it\'s in the same room, thanks...

When windows started for the first time it should have given you the option to set up an internet connection.  If not go to Network Connections in the Control Panel and click  on it and create a new connection.

I\'m at work now so I can\'t really do anything but I was there and if I remember correctly it asked for alot of numbers I didn\'t know. When I get home in a few hours I\'ll check it out again.

Also, my case has three fans in it, all which are monitored on an LCD display in the front. It also tells me the temperature of my HD, system, and case fan I believe. If anyone could tell me the normal temp, or optimal temp actually, that I should try and keep this at that would be great. When I was first loading it up and installing the drivers, the temps ran well into the 90\'s(F) and the HD temp neared 100.

Every system is different - you have to post your specs.

1024GB RAM?

Do you mean MB?

1024GB is highly unlikely so im just going to assume you meant MB\'s.

that much ram might be good, things would load like instantly if ur RAM was like a HDD, hmm intresting. Although i guess it would have to be ROM since RAM gets lost when the comp is turned off and ROM is Read only obv so that woudnt work, lol im rambling now

You need to provide more information about your internet service.  Since you said you have an ethernet connection, I assume you either have cable service or DSL.

Do you have a static IP address, or dynamic?  You probably need to find the documentation that came from your ISP on how to configure your Windows Networking settings.  If you can\'t find the paperwork, you may have to borrow the settings from the old PC.

Sound troubles arise....

Alright I\'ve fixed all my previous problems, thanks to those who offered their help.

I have another issue though, they never really do end I guess. Anyway, I setup my speakers (Creative Labs SBS 560, 5.1 setup) and I have a Creative SB Audigy 2ZS. All the speakers work with my games except when I play music, it only comes out of the center speaker and sub. So if you know how to at least get the right and left front speakers in that would be great.

Actually the manual is a fold out installation guide and that\'s it; I\'ve looked at every piece of information on it. I\'ve tried to mess around with the settings in Creative but I still have no luck. The music works in all speakers in games just not in music, it;\'s not like i plugged something in wrong.

Check your creative icon in your systray - it has a speaker calibration tool.

i\'ve calibrated them before. Actually it didnt work out too well, it made me switch alot of the speakers around. I figured the ones with the longer wires were meant for the rear speakers, oh well. I finally got it right I thought but the music is solely in the center channel.
