Space Balls 2

In a Q&A with Playbill magazine, Mel Brooks says that he\'s currently working on a Spaceballs sequel. Here\'s the clip from the interview which starts off by talking about the big screen adaptation of The Producers.

Playbill: Will you have a role in it?

MB: It\'s doubtful, but I\'m writing myself back into the Spaceballs sequel that I\'m now writing, so you haven\'t seen the last of my face. Why another Spaceballs? It wouldn\'t feel right have anyone else play Yoghurt and the first one was the best experience I\'ve had making a movie since Blazing Saddles.

Playbill: When can we expect that?

MB: Best case scenario: a week before the new Star Wars opens. Worst Case Scenario: a year after the new star wars opens.

Interesting.

I really dont know what to think with this one. I used to love space balls but a sequel? Hmmm... i cant see what direction this could go it that would be really great/promising.

Its just something that should be left alone i think, but who knows.

I loved this movie, it defined the spoof genre.  So glad to see...

I think Mel has lost it. Give me something as good as Young Frankenstein or High Anxiety.

I agree.. I would love to see this turned into a movie (of course with the orignial cast) more than another space balls.

WTF???? It started as a movie!  You did know that, didn\'t you?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063462/

Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder defined it as far as I\'m concerned.

I know but I want to see it with the original stage cast.. Nathan Lane,  Matthew Broderick. In my oppinion it is 10x better than the older movie version.

It already is, Will Ferrell is going to be in it.

It was your use of the word "original" that threw me off.  There\'s nothing original about the Nathan Lane / Matthew Broderick cast.

Are you sure about that one or am I just missing the satire in that comment? God damn ambiguous text...

Interesting there will be another Space Balls. Hopefully the original cast will be in it, but these guys are just too old now. Maybe something like Space Balls: Retirement or something.
