I can\'t believe there hasn\'t been a thread about this movie yet. I saw it on Sunday and it was amazing. Great casting, great script, unbelievable score, and THE greatest half time pep talk ever filmed.
Lucas Black played the quarterback Mike Winchell, and you may remember him as the little kid from "Sling Blade" and "American Gothic." He is a very good actor, and his self doubt and anguish over his mother\'s ailments really gives the story a great foundation. I liked the way all the characters rose above their stereotypes. In a typical hollywood film, most of these self-absorbed characters (Boobie Miles, Billingsley\'s father, etc) would remain the same throughout the story; simply static 2-dimensional figures. Here they all obtain a little bit of redemption.
It was just a great film.
