Argh, LOW 3dmark03 score!
« on: November 30, 2004, 12:26:53 PM »
My computer is being stupid! Grrr! I just bought a new Leadtek 6800le and tested with 3Dmark03. I only got 5500 even though a system similar to mine got 8000!

Specs:

P4 2.4C GHz
Asus P4PE
133 FSB
512 Mb HyperX
WinXP
Forceware 66.93

Here\'s a pic from the compare:

Help me figure out what\'s wrong with this POS. :(
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAPETIME!

I don\'t feel any pity for you. My current computer would probably get a score of 2...

It is your CPU Sammy - getting a bottleneck.  Your video card is ok, but don\'t expect to see 6800 GT or X800XT numbers.

Well, it is a 6800LE. It\'s supposed to be in the range of 6600GT-6800V.

It\'s also a mid to lower range processor though, so that also might impact things.

Exactly.
It\'s  6800le, not being rude, but you aren\'t going to get true 6800 benchmarks for that.
Same with CPU.

maybe check that your AGP apeurature (sp?) is set to 8x and your Memory bandwidth is at 128 MB.  Other than that... yeah, it\'s an LE

But it\'s better than nothin\' :)

Jackpot.  I bet it\'s your motherboard.  I had the same one, switched it out for an Asus P4P800-SE (i865PE chipset) and then we had 8xAGP, Side band addressing, fast writes.

Anyway download CPU-Z and see what it\'s saying under the Mainboard tab.

Bah you morons (a few of you excluded).

I showed you a comparison of my computer and another PC WITH THE SAME CPU AND GFXCARD!!! It has NOTHING to do with my CPU being slow, or the 6800le being slow. Jeez you guys.

Besides the le is not that much slower than 6800, especially since I\'ll only be playing in 1024x768 because of my monitor. And when I get my PC to run better, I\'ll O/C the system and softmod the gfxcard. But for right now it should at least get me around the 7000-8000 mark and it isn\'t.

THX, CPU-Z is telling me what I already knew, that I\'m running a P4PE, i.e. an i845PE chipset. :)

That part is in the shade. :(
(the whole \'graphics interface\' part that is)

But I seem to remember the AGP aperture size being 64 mb-ish. Should I set it to 128 or 256 mb instead?

I installed Intel App Accelerator and set AGP aperture size to 128 mb. Now I get 6500 mark. I\'ll optimize some more and then O/C.

I enabled all 16 pixel shaders and 6 vertex shaders with no problems or artifacts. :)

I now get 9000 in 3Dmark03. Not too shabby from my sloooow CPU and lowly 6800le.

You can OC that CPU btw and he is limited to 4X AGP with that mobo.  I know I have the same one.
