I finally did it!
« on: December 29, 2004, 05:59:07 PM »
I recently picked up E.T. for Atari. The worst game of all time.

As a kid it tormented me. I couldn\'t defeat it.

But now that I have it, I learned that you don\'t just fall into holes. There are icons that can be activated that tell you which holes to fall into.

Then there\'s a phone icon where you activate a phone. And a landing zone icon where the ship comes to rescue you.

It took me some effort, but I beat E.T.!

The game that took 6 weeks to make, took me 21 years to beat. :)

I have closed this chapter of my childhood.

Now I\'m waiting for the Atari Kid\'s Controller to arrive so I can relive Big Bird\'s Egg Catch.

I\'m not kidding. ;]

i always liked how when you beat the game, you can just start over and continue the same score

Heh, show off. I just learned that today. I read about a kid who played for five hours straight and got over 1,000,000. Gotta love Atari games, heh.

Me, I scored 2,900 or so points and may never touch it again. I didn\'t feed Elliot any Reeses Pieces.

I feel that way sometimes about old NES games. Most I never beat.

So, you went to a Mexican landfill to pick up an old game?
Cool!

Cool!

I thought it was some other desert. Meh

There are plenty of nes games like that for me. I had an atari but i was far to young to actually get into them like nes games so i dont have any quest for that system, though i still pick up genesis, psx, n64 games, (i used to get nes games but my nes died this year:( )

I think they\'re in a New Mexico landfill, cemented over with a bunch of extra Pac-Man games and Atari systems.

That\'s the rumor going around town.

I stopped picking up N64 games once I got Paper Mario. Though, that reminds me I need to get Mario 64 again...

I only have two Dreamcast games and I didn\'t like either one (Bass Fishing, Shenmue). That should be the next system I get games for.

Yeah something like that happened with me and MegaManX. When it first came out I got it and was dominating all the levels, bosses, nothing in particular. Then come the dread Sigma finale. A series of tough levels, extremely difficult bosses, and the grand battle with 3 forms of Sigma himself(if you count the dog). The dog and regular Sigma were usually easily disposed thanks to jumping on the side of the wall and shooting. But his last form always got me. It was the most difficult and confusing. You had to dodge all kind of stuff, you could insta die from hitting the spikes, and I just didn\'t know what to use on him.

After a while it become to much a drag to get all the way up to him(which was in itself extremely difficult and often I\'d fail). To make a long story short I reminded myself about gamefaqs.com and learned it was the roller gun to kill him and 9 years after only failing to not be this one game I finally did it. Felt good.
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

Yeah all the sigmas are hard. Well not all of them but at least one form in every game. Even X4 (which i used to play like crazy) and X5 had hard sigma bosses.

Shenmueeeeeeee

:(
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.
