The additional 17 minutes in the so-called "special edition" of Aliens, which has actually been available for quite a while, is worthwhile. It doesn\'t include anything essential to the story, but it\'s worthwhile. I don\'t dislike it.
The so-called "special edition" of Alien3 is essential in my opinion. It is MUCH better than the theatrical version. The alien birth sequence is immensely superior, and there are many other bits and pieces that make the story more logical. I\'ve always liked Alien3, and I\'m really glad this version is available now.
Regarding Alien, the "special edition" or "director\'s cut" or whatever it\'s called, is a BIG MISTAKE. The restored scenes are not necessary, and in the case of the cocoon scene near the end, they completely destroy the pacing. As far as I\'m concerned, the theatrical version of Alien is the best version.
I have no comment or interest in Alien Resurrection. Jean-Pierre Jeunet can go to hell, stupid hack.
