This reminds me when I was in 7th grade, my math teacher, I believe his name is Mr. Flack taught us a method to get an answer in an equation.
Something like this,
1/2 = x/8
What is x? He uses the method of multiplying the number 2 to equal 8 which is 4 and does the same on top. Which means x = 4.
Then I said, there is another method which is cross multiply. He said no that won\'t work or something. But cross multiply does work and cross multiply was later cover in the next several chapters...
