Enterprise canceled
« on: February 03, 2005, 08:30:34 AM »
Didn\'t post until now, those who care already heard and those who don\'t most likely havent.

I have mixed feelings about the cancelation, on one hand the show wasn\'t good to begin with bad plots bad everything and was just B&B shoving whatever they wanted to do down the thoats of Trekkies.
Trek has needed a break now for a while, instead of jumping straight to a new show and Nemesis they should\'ve taken  those 5 years off and then restart the franchise with fresh blood and then the franchise would still have some respect.

On the other hand, this is the first ST series since TOS that has been canceled and thus this has dealt a pretty big blow to the franchise, also the show was now headed by Manny Coto instead of B&B and was starting to pickup somewhat and was hinting at story arcs that the people wanted, the founding of the Federation.

This will be the first time in my life atleast as far as I can remember (Can\'t remember anything before like \'88 :p) that Star Trek won\'t be being made in some form and that is something that I will miss.

Anyhoo, just wanted to post some thoughts about this from a self acknowlidged geek and Trekkie

in I thought Star Trek was done when deep space nine finished... meh.
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

Eh I don\'t get UPN so I couldn\'t watch it, but I caught a few episodes on BT.  Too bad - the Vulcan chick was hot.  Oddly enough, my 80 year old grandmother watched the show religiously.

The Next Generation - Good
Deep Space 9 - Sucked
Voyager - Good
Enterprise - Sucked

A pattern is developing.  I agree they should take a break now, but the greedheads at Paramount have probably never considered it until now.  They didn\'t care about pissing away their fanbase with shoddy programming.

I thought DS9 was good - especially with the Dominion Wars at the end of its run.

Well Core your list is mostly correct but I think your confusing Voyager with DS9 because DS9 kicked ass.

And like Jumpman said, after DS9 finished the show was left in the hands of the two that it should never have been left in and since then it has mostly sucked ass sadly.

Sorry, but any series where a Ferengi is one of the main characters sucks plain and simple.  DS9 was shit.  I actually watched it the first couple seasons, then I couldn\'t stand it anymore.

The stories always revolved around the main characters arguing with each other.  You really got the impression they all hated each other.  I guess the producers thought that would attract viewers like a reality show or something.  The thing that makes TNG and Voyager memorable are the characters working together and helping each other.  I also found it hilarious on DS9 when they discovered (too late) that the idea of a Star Trek series set on a stationary base was too boring, and they put them on a starship instead.  I had already stopped watching by that time, but the idea seemed really cheap to me.

I was already watching the X-Files by that time, so I ignored DS9.

Well DS9 didn\'t become great till the Dominion war arc which you seem to have missed.

star trek episodes from the 60\'s > all current star trek shows...i tried watching some of the new stuff, it was was alright but it can\'t compare to those old captain kirk fight scenes and him basically knockin down every sexy alien chick he could get his hands on! :p....

98 episodes.. 2 short of what\'s needed for syndication. Shame.. shame.

The last Trek series I adored was TNG. Voyager had funny characters so I liked that too.

DS9 is one that I\'ll eventually have to grab on DVD or something.
