Looking for suggestions - loved Zelda & Prince of Persia
« on: February 21, 2005, 07:11:53 AM »
Greetings,
I’m new to the Playstation 2 and am looking for game suggestions. I loved Zelda and Prince of Persia. I thought I loved the Final Fantasy series but I’m playing X and am getting board.
Thanks,
Steve

Give Ico a try.  It has the same feel as Prince of Persia (puzzles and what not) and one of the most beautifully crafted atmospheres created for a game.  It doesn\'t have as much action as either Zelda or Prince of Persia and it\'s not nearly as varied, but like Prince of Persia, it\'s main focus is a great deal of smart puzzles.  It\'s also very cheap and easy to find right now.  Give it a try.

Also, I think Beyond Good and Evil is out on PS2. If it is, grab that one.  Should be around $20.

Ico easy to find? Where do you live? Ive seen one, and i bought it off ebay because i couldnt find it anywhere. Sadly, once i get towards the end/midway the damn thing freezes during a cutscene that i cant skip.

Its a great game, yes, but i think this guy might get a little bored with it. Its true Final Fantasy and Ico are very different, but the level of action in both may seem lacking when compared to zelda and POP by a long shot.

Try Beyond Good and Evil, The Jak and Daxter (Jak) series or even the new prince of persia (warrior within).

PoP\'s action was nothing to rave about.  The primary gameplay of PoP is in its puzzles and environments, the same can be said for Zelda aside from a few boss fights.  It\'s mostly all about puzzle solving and art style.  Ico has both of those in spades.

I thought ICO was really boring, it\'s one of those games that took me a long time to finish because I kept having to force myself to turn it on.  I couldn\'t find it anywhere, ended up buying it off a friend.

Beyond Good & Evil is great, not Zelda great but it\'s better than average.

Jak & Daxter and Jak 3 are two of the best games I\'ve played this gen.

If we\'re getting into platform games, you can\'t go wrong with the Ratchet and Clank series or with Sly Cooper.  Both series have put out nothing but phenomenal games.
