Eve Online

After playing nothing but WoW I decided to try Eve Online - Beautiful game, but man there is a high learning curve.  Glad its a 14 day free trial, but I won\'t be renewing - maybe if I didn\'t need sleep I might.

PS Wasn\'t looking for a WoW replacement - just something different to try.

It would seem to be a failure if you put that much effort into it and you are not renewing.  Are you saying it\'s just too time consuming?  Isn\'t that the case with every MMORPG?  It it moreso with this game than with Wow?

Too bad because I always thought a Sci Fi MMORPG would be more interesting to me than all these goofy fantasy games.  It would be cool to find something like the old GDW Traveller game as a MMORPG.

EVE Online is very cool. And beautiful to boot. I also did a 14 day free trail, but didn\'t continue (why I can\'t really remember, it might have been lack of time, or perhaps I was just being a cheap bastard).

I\'m considering quitting WoW though. Too timeconsuming, and if you think about it, it really is pointless. It just becomes an eternal quest for more exp, more money, better stuff. But there isn\'t an end to it, you just continue into infinity. That\'s not to say it\'s a bad game, but I just find myself spending way too much time on something that\'s ultimately pointless.

So what you are saying sammy is that you are addicted to WoW?  ;)

Yeah EVE was cool, but I don\'t have the time.  I really like space games as well, but between mastering the games interface and devoting time to it - I just can\'t.  Maybe if I didn\'t have to work...

Yeah, basically. Except that I can choose not to play, even if I would like to. But if I decide to play, it\'s like I have to play for hours on end. I can\'t just play it a little. :)

So I figured quitting altogether was the smarter thing to do. Though I\'m still debating the question with myself.
